Ever since I found out that Sonic Team was little more than a big blue sweatshop, I have come to terms with the fact that anything coming from that studio will just be a disappointment. Sonic games come from a place that has no soul, and expecting any more than mediocrity from people who have been forced to only assemble and not create games is expecting too much.
Nevertheless, here's a trailer from Sega that does what Sega trailers do best -- makes a game look bloody awesome regardless of what the truth might be. Despite the usual reliance on a rather embarrassing theme tune, this video looks pretty cool, with some graphics that are damn good for a Wii game.
However, it has the Sonic Team logo in it, not the Dimps logo. So forgive me if I don't get too thrilled. I'll dance a little jig if it turns out well, but in the meantime, I shan't be contributing to the Sonic Cycle by getting excited.

Good call. I haven't even been able to force myself to finish Sonic Unleashed. It's just missing something...and I don't enjoy the werehog sections as much as I did initially.
I enjoyed Unleashed, but after hearing your report on how Sega and Sonic Team treat the franchise, I'm less optimistic about this game than I use to be(which was greater hope than Unleashed)...
I actually liked that theme song in the trailer... kind of, oddly infatuating. Oh well, knowing 3d sonic there's only a 5.7% chance this game will be awesome, a 43% chance it'll be decent, and a 51.3% it will suck.
Hmmm, barring some sort of werehog addition this might be interesting. It'll probably come down largely to the controls. Too much or non-responsive waggle will probably doom it to being Secret Rings two.

I'll only get it if I get to see a Hedgehog/Magical Elf makeout session, that or if it the game gets good reviews or the demo is goo... oh wait I don't think I'll be getting any of that, fuck.
Ohhh god, didn't they try the God of War type gameplay (Warehog) and it was shit. I cant stand modern day sonic games, and I really dont know who in there right mind would. Please Sega, Re-make Sonic 1,2 &3 in slick 3D HD graphics but still maintaining that 2D gameplay, why the hell wont they do that!
I have a friend who tests certain games for a certain company. He told me this certain company's higher ups think every game in a certain franchise is god's gift to earth and "practically jizz" everytime they talk about it. Seems like a certain company is so far off base that they're in their own little world.
Crush 40 is great, the graphics look great. But I don't know. I was one of the few who didn't hate Sonic 06 so I might like it. By the way when I say didn't hate, I don't mean it was a good game. I just mean I got some enjoyment out of it.
Is it me or ever since sonic went 3D, is the only consistantly good thing about it is the soundtrack? cause despite the cheese, it sounds like a modern equivlent to a hearts of fire from rocky 4 XD.
Looks shit, uninspired shit... Sonic with a sword, how boring and I mean they could atleast give him some cool armour or something to wear as well so that he could fit in with the "period". They need to take Sonic back into 2D with just HD sprites Ala SF2 HD.

Jesus Christ, the Sonic franchise is looking more and more like Scooby Doo, Oh here's Sonic with knights! There's sonic with werewolves! Maybe next time time we'll get Wild West Sonic, or some sonic in space!? Why I can't I just have a sonic game?
dear god not more crush 40! I swear they must be part of the sweat shop, being forced to write cheesetastic for each Sonic game so we'll still think he has an edge. Now don't get me wrong; some of the Crush 40 songs have been pretty decent ('Live and Learn' for instance). It's just that it would appear they don't really try anymore either.

The fantasy setting alone makes me want to play this game. It actually makes it kind of appealing.
Also this Sonic game idea is really stupid, but I'm excited. Although I shouldn't be.
