Remember that promised update to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2? Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka recently told Eurogamer that the downloadable title won't make an appearance until 2012. Anyone else starting to get some serious Half-Life 2 vibes?
Apparently, this was all part of a grand master plan. Iizuka stated that 2011 would be devoted to Sonic's 20th anniversary celebration, which includes this fall's Sonic Generations, and that anything else would come afterwards. There are also no plans at the moment for a third episode, which probably wouldn't appear for another decade anyway, given historical precedence.
This game better be something special if Sega's making us wait so long. I expect it to make me pancakes.
