Also, the physics "issues" are overblown. It's just a few silly things here and there like standing still sideways on a ramp. The final boss is an asshole though. Should not take that many hits to die.
this game doesn't deserve to be called Sonic 4, Generations should be called Sonic 4
Totally agree with physics = El Diablo thing. Wasn't going to ever pick it up for $15 because of that but for $10 I might be a little more forgiving.
It's like there's an invisible gate placed in front and behind Sonic that is magically and immediately lifted when you hold 'right' for a long time.
I'd like to think I'm not one of those drooling idiots you constantly refer to, but I can only conclude that these 'physics' have rendered the game unplayable for me as a veteran Sonic player.
So the Wiiware version is stuck with the original price then? I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. From what I can tell it's pretty much impossible for games to get a price cut on Wiiware.
I would wait until sonic generation is actually out before you start claiming it should be called "sonic 4"
I have a feeling the sonic pals are going to ruin that game.
how about they finish Sonic 4, change the physics to at least Generations level and sell it as a retail game for 40 bucks.
as it is now it still isn't worth it. This is why I'm not a fan of episodic gaming.
It is confirmed that only the 2 sonics are playable, the pals only either help sonic or are bosses (metal sonic, shadow, silver)
of course a game that goes through sonics history will include the pals
I'll admit that the physics engine is a legit complaint, but it doesn't deserve nearly as much scorn as it's been getting. I'm having an extremely difficult time believing that anyone had that much difficulty playing the game because of the physics. I love the old Sonic games; My favorite Sonic game is Sonic 3 & Knuckles and I was able to have a lot of fun with Sonic 4.
Sonic 4 did do some other things wrong, though. I didn't like that there were only four zones and that they were all rehashed from the first two Genesis games (which I'm not nearly as fond of as S3&K). The special stage being a more annoying variant of Sonic 1's special stage (which I was never fond of in the first place) also bothered me, though the game lets you restart the special stages, so that's a plus. On that note, having to get 50 rings to the end of the stage again was annoying as fuck and I hated having to do that again. I really hope Episode 2 uses S2's, S3&K's, or some new method of getting into special stages and I hope they don't decide to remake Sonic 2's special stages because I hated those.
The soundtrack had a few good themes, but was mostly lame, which is incredibly surprising for a Sonic game, of all things. The levels weren't as big nor had as many altering paths as most of the other 2D Sonic games either.
Outside of these minor complaints (and possibly a few others that didn't come to mind), though, I really enjoyed Sonic 4 and I don't regret buying it as soon as it came out. I'm hoping Episode 2 gets everything right this time around.
but hey ... its cool to hate on Nintendo and Sega...
I never thought the old Sonic games were all that great so I'm more interested in a modern feeling game than just playing Sonic 2 again.
So what you're saying is you don't like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, you don't like Sonic 1's special stage, you don't like Sonic 1's requirement for entering special stages (that you don't even like), and you don't like Sonic 2's special stages either? My good man, do you even like Sonic at all?
So...you want Sonic 2 with Sonic 3 special stages or something?!
I think my complaint might be a *teensy* bit easier to accomodate, don't you?
