Sonic 3, Gunstar Heroes and other Sega games hitting XBLA and PSN soon? photo

Once again, the ESRB has been shedding information on upcoming games, and it's been revealed that a number of Sega Genesis games have been given the green light for release on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Sonic 3, Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II and Gunstar Heroes are all slated to appear on each console's digital download service, which would make for a second series of releases after Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic II, Golden Axe, Echo the Dolphine and Streets of Rage II made appearances last year.

The lack of "& Knuckles" at the end of Sonic 3 is a little disheartening, and with the release of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection coming soon, one wonders just what the point is. Still, this is Sega, and nostalgia is its bread and butter.

I would love Gunstar Heroes on Live Arcade. While we're at it, why don't they put Guardian Heroes up there as well?

yeah but most of those games will suck on 360 because the d-pad is shit. No way in hell am I going to play Gunstar Heroes on the 360 controller, good thing I already have it on wii VC.

I had a dream last night that I was playing a screwy version of Sonic 3 where you move on to the next character once youlose your lives. Well, when I got to Knuckles it was Garfield instead, flying around and climbing.

Not gonna lie, I'll still get Sonic 3 for the achievements. Also Gunstar Heroes over Live will own.

I actually surprised that they're not out yet, but I already have all of the Sonics on my Wii, including Sonic 3. Don't have Gunstar Heroes but I have some Wii points available...

Huh, I already have pretty much every Genesis game I could want. I have the Sonic Mega Collection + which has Comix Zone and every Sonic in existence up to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

And I'm willing to bet I could find a SegaCD emulator.

I'm glad to see Gunstar Heroes, as I dont want to pay for an inferior 50Hz version on the European VC. Its also not included on the Sega Genesis Collection.

For working online play on Gunstar Heroes, I would pay money.

SEGA if you're listening, and you might actually be, please put MUTANT LEAGUE FOOTBALL on the XBLA and PSN.

I got Gunstar Heroes gifted to me, and I love it. It's the first time I've ever played it.
I have to admit, it would be damn fun to play co-op on live.

I'm sticking with my Gunstar Heroes on the Wii, Xbox live play would do it a favour but i'd rather play the game with a proper D-pad rather than the analog stick.

The only thing sitting between me and actually playing that Sonic Mega Collection I picked up ages ago is a good wireless controller I can sit back on and a decent D-pad. I cant wait to get the Sega collection on blu-ray, think i'll give these individual releases a miss..

Y'know what'd be sweet? If they later released Sonic & Knuckles and let you do that thing with the save file.

Ah well, Sonic Jam's served me fine for a good decade now, and I don't see any reason to spring for another redo/compilation yet.

I'd get Sonic 3 if it came as the full game, but on it's own no thanks. Not for the achievements, but to give me an excuse to play it again.
