Considering that Dimps isn't remaking a Sonic game I don't see how this crappy video proves anything. Sonic 4 is going to be made with these things in mind; it's not like they were an afterthought. Fucking Sonic fanboys. Jesus.
Granted most people are fine with Sonic 4. I'm ok with it, I would of had it been a full game that was made in the same art style as Rayman Origins, but it's not and I'm not too upset with the direction they took the game in (except maybe the soundtrack). But some people really wanted to have a more retro Sonic 4, some to the point where they might just want a Sonic 2 hack perhaps, but it's the feel of the game that's important, and Dimps wasn't exactly spot on this time around.
Also another common thing with Sega has been Sonic only gameplay. This is nice, but many liked the other characters too. I'm not talking about bringing back SA1 gameplay types but more like Sonic 3 where everyone played like Sonic except with different moves
The raccoon's tail from Mario 3 surely would have ruined the original, amirite?
Just go play Sonic 1,2 and 3 if it bothers you that much. If you get the MD collection you need never make pointless hacks or videos again.
Meanwhile, I cant WAIT to play Sonic 4 (episode 1...)
Is it because you got stuck in a trap where two springs/speed boosters were shooting you back and forth? Yeah, ok, that's never happened before. I can even think of a specific example in Carnival Night (that's Zone 4), maybe even one example in both acts, but the one I'm thinking of has you bouncing around under water while those little shocker bastards shoot sparks at you.
What's wrong with a homing attack?
I guess I don't have enough hate for Sonic to be a fan of Sonic...
...I'll play Sonic 4 when I get it.
I like both classic sonic and the dimps gba/ds games, but I guess with the title being Sonic 4 they were hoping it would play more like genesis sonic.
I have to hold right and press A twice in a row to complete this one?
SONIC IS RUINED.
Honestly, I'm looking forward. I don't think it's going to necessarily be awesome in its quality (the game looks cheap as hell), but it'll at least be more fun than most Sonic games have been in recent years.
The Homing attack is an Easy Button. Jump in the air, press Jump repeatedly, and watch things die. In the old Sonic's you had to actually use skill to pull off something like what you see at the 3:20 mark in this video. I can understand needing something like the homing attack on the 3D games, but on the 2D games it just ruins gameplay. If you still don't understand why this is bad for gameplay, imagine if Mario in Super Mario Bros 3 had a Homing stomp attack if you pressed jump twice.
The speed is another example. The latest Sonic's focus so much on how fast it is that you rarely do anything but hold right and hit the jump button twice. hell, it's got to the point where he doesn't even need to be in a ball anymore because his new powerups make him run so fast the enemies fly all over the place. still confusing you, Imagine Mario going invincible anytime he runs at full speed in Super Mario Bros 3.
It'll be exactly like that one, but with crappy cutscenes, 2 new animal friends, and an all new soundtrack by Crush 40.
Despite it having the whiniest, most petulant and fucking self-entitled bunch of crying little princess fanboys on the planet.
This video is full of hyperbole, and whoever put it together should stop fisting themselves.
However remember most of the ROMS posted on this site are gag ROMS. There are some very technically impressive Sonic hacks, specifically Sonic 1 Megamix comes to mind and Sonic 2 Retro Remix, which are almost complete overhauls of the games. In fact Megamix was actually ported to the Sega CD
Also... theres some great sonic rom hacks out there like sonic extended edition that takes levels from the beta games as well as unfinished levels (put together for the rom).
PS. if you really think that dimps sucks balls, which i do not, then try developing a videogame yourself. good, now try to make a good one. not as easy as it sounds so until you can say what it is like to develop a game, you have absolutely no right in cursing dimps actions.
PPS i fin the editions to sonic 4 will make it BETTER that previous iterations
Maybe if Sonic 2 had him constantly stopping to talk to deviantart sonic recolors and had him talk to some mary-sue fanfiction character they'd have liked it more. I mean that's pretty much Sonic 2006...
I'm not sure how any of the new features made the game worse, I actually liked it. Sure, it takes time to really get used to those controls, but once you nailed it down and sucked up the difficulty, its quite fun. The music is a good change form the usual affair, I'm just sad they removed Tails in this one.
Oh well.
Honestly, it looks like you can just hold left and tap a rhythmically and beat the game. That's not what the original sonic games were about, go back and play them if you don't believe me (btw, green hill zone or all variants don't count. I'm talking about the later levels.)
Sonic Advance was fun, I dunno if it was better than the console games... I mean they are kind of the original. It's hard to beat the original creator in essence.
I hope Sonic 4 turns out well and even when if it's the best game of the year someone will complain.
IF YOU SHOEHORN NEWER FEATURES INTO OLDER GAMES, MUCH OF THE DIFFICULTY DISAPPEARS.
Yeah, if you added mario's spin attack from galaxy into SM64 the game would be a hell of a lot easier. Because it wasn't designed for it. Just because some obsessives have spent hours watching an early version of the game doesn't mean the game, when released, will be bad. We know it will be different, but they never claimed to be doing the full mega man 9. They're adapting a classic style with some modern touches.
Also, the music in that video has to come from the 6th layer of hell. If that's real Sonic 4 music, I guess I will have to pass on the game.
i would have to take this vid as evidence that people against DIMPs are just clueless fanboys.
