Somewhere, someone is playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite photo

I didn't care for the Monster Hunter games I played so much in single player mode, but as any Japanese fan of the series can probably tell you, multiplayer is where the action's at. The UK launch trailer for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite you can see after the jump doesn't show off too much of that, but it does show some very pretty scenery and a few snippets of gameplay in the second half. Oh, and it features a voiceover from a guy that sounds like the Asian stereotype of the century.

The game comes out on June 23rd for PSP here in North America, but it's been out in Japan for almost a year already. I don't mind waiting to check out the next chapter of this ultra-popular franchise, but maybe this time I'll see if I can find a friend or two to play with me.

I have always wanted to play Monster Hunter, but not owning a PSP will probably stop that from happenening. Though, if/when it comes out for the PS3, I would totally be down

A asian accent in a video game made by an asian country? Perish the thought! Not really into the Monster Hunter series, but damn that is one huge fucking gun that guy is packing in the header image.

None of my friends with PSPs play Monster Hunter and I've never got around to setting up a Hamachi server. Any Dtoiders playing 2nd G?

Meant Xlink kai, basically simulates ad-hoc over the innernets if you're wondering

@Tdiddy9182 - i dont think itll ever go to another console again (except the Wii, which wont exactly require a huge upgrade to the current engine). That would take actual effort by Capcom, and they have no reason to try to improve their game when every iteration (with a few new monsters and items) sells millions on the psp.

It pisses me off, given how much i love the first two psp games.

I already have about 300+ hours on MHP 2nd G, they made the whole experience a whole lot better.

Especially with the new Feline Helper

Ohhhhhhh yeeeaaaahhh!

i cannot wait for this! I've sunk over 450 hours into MHF2 and I'm patiently waiting for the release of Unite. I NEED IT! i've got a HUGE collection of weapons, and use a variety, i just need more, and more monsters!

I play every lunchtime / ciggy break, everyday! Also when my Fiance is watching Hollyoaks on my PlayTV, sometimes while walking the dogs!

I've got a couple of mates with PSP's who I've given the MH bug, we play about once a week, but when we start we will play till the sun comes up.

I cannot get enough Monster Hunter.

My name is Sexualchocolate and I'm addicted to Monster Hunter.

MH3 should SOOOOOO be on PS3 - imagine all the content they could put on a blu-ray! and all the beautiful HD scenery!

Such a shame it's gone to the waggle fest, but from what I read doesn't even use the waggle?

WTF?!

I hope that you can play MHFU online some other way than Xlink Kai or the Ps3. I don't own a Ps3 and unfortunately I can't figure out what I have to do for Xlink kai. If anybody could help me. That would be great.

I just got a psp and wanted to throw in my 2 cents after playing the demo for 10 minutes. The controls were so toxic I didn't want to play for longer than that. Graphics look like an unsuccessful transition from larger screens. Did this ever become popular in America?

Overall for the psp, watching vids is okay but no replacement for the TV, I'm trying to wrap my head around Dissidia combat in the demo. I bought FF Tactics which looks promising. Bummed I can't find copies or demos of Persona. But OMG Patapon is so freaking fun it is what I've been thinking about and humming all day.

Pata pata pata pon!
