Someone had to do it: Mario Kart IRL

10:30 AM on 12.05.2008

I don't know about you, but when I'm driving, my mind often moves to one of three games in heavy traffic: Ridge Racer (powersliding!), Sega Rally (forget slow people, just drive in the grass!), or Mario Kart (damn, I wish I had some bananas right about now). Of course, if I was Mario Kart-ing it, I wouldn't wear the Mario outfit and drive a go-kart.

A French dork named Remi Gaillard would, though. Remi dressed up in Mario's overalls, slapped on a mustache, gassed up his kart, and hit the open road. After a perfect start (1 and 2 and boom before the 3), he gets his power-up: bananas. Watch as real-world drivers run over his banana tosses. Sadly, they're quite a bit less effective in real life.

Reminder: Hatsune Miku to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight

This will never fully compute. I doubt that it'll make sense in my head while it's airing, even.  Vocaloid's Hatsune Miku, the voice synthesizer turned popular character, will be performing live on The Late Show with David Letterman at 11:35 p.m. Eastern Time. As a hologram. Right alongside Anderson Cooper and Gina Rodriguez.  Is this world really real?more
