Some Halo 3: ODST owners are having trouble finishing the search. In a recent thread on the official ODST message board, a fair few players have been reporting that they are receiving read errors when using the “Campaign” disc. The problem arises, in most cases, immediately before a cut-scene begins to load.
This is bummer, obviously, but as Joystiq notes, Bungie is looking into it. A representative is probing those with issues and the community itself came up with a sound solution: download the game to the hard drive. The other mini-solution is to remove the hard drive entirely and then play.
For once, our Xbox 360s are cooperating. How is yours handling ODST?

But, this is making me worry. Hopefully I won't encounter any problems, though I don't want to get to the middle of the game and then finding out I'm screwed.

Mine had this error just once. I opened the disc drive and closed it, it's been fine ever since.
Plus I can finally get rid of my stupid Halo 3 disc, now that I have one for straight multiplayer. Score one for more shelf space!

And you'd be even more pissed if you got matchmaking and had to deal with the random idiots.
You got the ENTIRTY OF HALO 3 MATCHMAKING. Get three friends and go in Firefight, it'll take less time and be more fun than Horde, Survival Mode, or Zombies matchmaking.
Oh and I've not had any loading issues
