Solid Snake to appear in New International Track & Field photo

We already thought it was pretty awesome that Konami characters like Simon Belmont and Frogger were playable in the upcoming DS title New International Track & Field. Now it looks like Konami's main man Solid Snake is joining the bunch.

Sumo Digital, developers of Sega Superstars Tennis, brings another batch of 3rd party character star power our way in this remake of the classic arcade title, which is now coming upon its 25th anniversary. Old Man Snake sneaks into the title, though I don't know how well the aged smoker would be at the long jump or sprinting. I guess he'd do well at skeet shooting and archery though.

This is a pretty fun addition to the title, but it was probably a given from the get go. I'm honestly more excited about swimming and pole vaulting with Silent Hill's Pyramid Head!

What about you? Are you looking forward to New International Track & Field now that Snake is in it? Or will you be too busy playing as Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4 to even care?

Hit the jump to see the awesome art for NITF's chibi Snake.

Snake should be tested for performance-enhancing drugs and be made to wear regular sports clothing. That specialized suit would give him an unfair advantage. ;)

Soon you won't be able to sell a game without a crossover in it.

I played this at teh Comic Con this weekend, it was just a bunch of games where you moved the stylus across teh screen repeatedly though I guess I can't complain since the original was basically smashing the A button repeatedly.

Jesus Christ. I'm all for more Solid Snake, but this is ridiculous. Is he gonna be a fucking chef in the next Cooking Mama? Will he be the new dance partner in DDR? Can we expect some CQC combat in the next Kingdom Hearts? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR THE THRILLING CONCLUSION OF...THE WHORING-OUT OF THE GREATEST VIDEO GAME CHARACTER!!!

Sad to say... but I think Solid Snake lost all his cred as soon as he went with the mullet in MGS 2. It's been all downhill from there.

@Zac Bentz

I thought the same thing...holy crap, I was 5 when this came out?

Then I realized that the NES version, the one I was thinking of, couldn't have been released in '83 for obvious reasons, and that this was for the arcade version...the NES version was released in 1988.

I felt slightly better. Only slightly.

There is a lot of good news coming from this game. Solid Snake only adds a cherry on top a large ice-cream sundae. :OD
