Unfortunately, if you've read the headline of this story then you've already got through most of the information we have on this one at the moment. Today, Kotaku got confirmation through from Activision that a third Soldier Of Fortune game, subtitled Pay Back, is in development. Activision's statement didn't give much away, stating only that:
Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back is being published by Activision's Minneapolis office. We have no further information to share at this point, but hope to very soon.
Not massively informative, but given that the story was broken as a rumor by WorthPlaying this morning, it could be that Activision wasn't planning on making a statement at all today and has had its hand forced.
WorthPlaying is also currently reporting rumors that the new game isn't being developed by original creator Raven, but is instead coming from Cauldron, developer of last year's multiformat Civil War. There's also a story that the enemy character models are going to have 36 points of separation to allow for some very creative dismantling, but it's important to remember at this stage that everything apart from Activision's statement is coming from one of those oh-so-prolific, shady unnamed sources that the internet holds so dear.
As with a lot of stories at the moment, more information will probably come to light at E3, so hang fire and hopefully we'll come up with something for you soon. And preferably without having to deal with a gravelly-voiced man in a shadowy car park at midnight.
I lolled at the caption, well done.
Also, activision doesn't tend to use starforce... codemasters does. SOF 3 should be safe for my PC
too bad i'm an achievement junkie... it makes platform decisions complicated...
I played the original SOF to the extreme, I also got heavily involved in the community. The community was rather small and it was a community where everybody knew each other, to the point of being on a first name basis with almost everyone. I have never before encountered a community that was so close even to this day. Well whatever I needed to reminisce.
Hopefully SOF3 will take up the characteristics of SOF1 with its fast brutal gameplay as opposed to SOF2.
And yeah that guy looks like Dr Phil!! the one on the left look more like Jim Brown
Keep in mind this guy is 69 years old so is on Dr. Phil's age range... and can kick your ass in 30 seconds or less...
I also found it funny that in the very first run of the original (The version I played) you could kill as many of the Iraqi civvies as you well pleased, yet were penalised on any other mission that had civilians you could kill.
Naughty dev's!
A Dev
finally its coming out!
