With a bunch of incredible-looking games arriving this fall for the DS (that will actually see release in the US, *ahem*), Nintendo's lame duck portable still has some vitality left in it. One such promising title is anthropomorphic-animal action RPG Solatorobo: Red the Hunter. It reminds me of the type of games that were prominent in the early 90s -- games starring cartoon critters with attitude -- then mixed in with a splash of Studio Ghibli flavor.
A trio of super-short gameplay videos have been released, demonstrating some of the combat you can expect. The first is above, while the other two are after the jump. Along with all the deets we're privy to already, from beautiful hand-drawn animation to a powerful score, I'm even more excited to get my hands on this jam.

Meet the rest of the team
The combat does have me a bit concerned since it seems to be somewhat on the simplistic side. Then again simple isn't always bad. Still pre-ordering the hell out of this.
.... I'd pre-order the hell out of two out of three other games that come to mind as well if NOA would get off its ass and release them.
I've heard really good things, surprising depth and a mini-game that could be stand alone game itself. My DS still gets plenty of action and it looks like it will continue to do so for a wee while longer.
The game is awesome and way a joy to play. I got it from Amazon on release and I absolutely loved it. The Story is great, the Characters are great. The Combat is solid, if a little simplistic, but the game does a great job of mixing things up just as the combat starts to get a little bit repetitive, even if you do all the side quests as I did.
Oh ya! I imported this from the UK about a week ago, First time I've picked up my DS in about a year. The game was to compelling not to get & I'm glad I got it. So much fun guys! I recommend it.

@Fraser Brown that minigame is crazy fun, i've never gotten so into a minigame before
Compelling story but combat can easily get repetitive. Nevertheless, it's a pretty good game.
Is US gonna get the downloadable missions too?
lol jk its awesome
"I used to like anthropomorphic cartoon characters... until those damn yiffers tried to literally fuck with them."
Fix'd. :D
