DS game Sola to Robo ~ Sore Kara CODA e~(that's Sola and Robo) is being shown off in this first promotional trailer, straight from Japan. The CyberConnect2 developed RPG will be released in October in Japan, but the art and animation shown off in this video will get you ready. Ready for dog people, that is.
Some of the character designs are cool, but I'm not going to say that I like them enough for you to place me in the yiffer category. Furry or not, there's some really great visuals in this trailer. Oh, and robots beating down other robots too. It reminds of Steamboat Chronicles in a way, and it is said to be a spiritual sequel to Tail Concerto.

I RRRREEEEEAAAAALLLYYYY hate the furry art style. I think the animu art style on the animals is what ruins it, it should be more stylized or realistic.
At this point in my life, I don't care how furry it is or not, I used to, but now I don't. Anthropomorphic characters were always in videogames, this is no different, its just shameless in this one. It also has humans and humanoid-like characters in it, so it doesn't just center on the animals.
It looks like something new, 3D characters everywhere, great animation and the combat looks like it can give a different twist on the usual RPG affairs.
"Different", that seems to what appeals to me in this game, I'm willing to have a go in it.
Is it just me or did one of that "girl" say "yaoi" when she popped up? I don't know a lick of japanese, and there is probably some sort of inflection that changes what she said but it sure sounded like it.
I really hate how now, you can't even have a game starting anthropomorphic characters without 90% of the press and comments about it being "OMG FURRIES!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!"
Why can't you guys look past the whole furry 'culture' and just appreciate it for what it is? You don't HAVE to be sexually attracted to the characters to appreciate the character design.
Apparently the game has SOME humans in it, so it's not entirely forsaken. It might have to be called one of the greatest games of the year by a lot of people to get me to take a bite though.
I just hate this style, it's the same kinda-anime, kinda-not style you see all over deviant art. like, why do the dogs have human hair? and the cat looks way to human. if you have anthropomorphic animals the best way to do it is to have them like the felynes in monster hunter.
@gamescook
that just add another layer of creepy, now it seems like a fan-fic that's just, odd.
Holy shit, I know this series. I'm pretty sure it's a sequel to an ancient PSX game released around the late 90's. It only came out in Japan, and I only knew about it because I found a secret demo of it on a Playstation Underground demodisc. I have no idea why I remember this, it happened around kindergarden.
On a related note, why can't Japanese developers grasp putting the gameplay upfront? I don't want to see the characters and story shit first, do Japanese people?
Loving that weird animation they use in cutscenes... and some of the backgrounds and assets are cool as he walked around town. And yeah, furry things aside, remember those animal people on Dragon Ball and such? They were acceptable, don't let a group of weird fetishists ruin that for you.
THANK YOU. If you had called me a furry for loving Tail Concerto back in the day, I wouldn't have known WTF you were talking about. Nothing sexual about it at all, it was pure and innocent as they come. I mean, really, was Don Bluth a furry for making Secret of NIMH?
Ooooh. Shiny. Sure is pretty if nothing else. Particularly those town settings. Though that music kinda reminds me of something heard straight outta Ghost in the Shell. Sure hope the gameplay is fun.
Looks alright to be honest, but you can never tell enough from a trailer. Not bothered about the furries, as they've always been in jrpgs now and then. My favourite furries are the Star Fox cast, because that's in a sci-fi setting, where few furries venture.
Sure, Solatarobo does look like Skies with furries and mechs, ringing ever true the fact that jrpgs want to sell the same stuff in different clothing, and while I'm bored to death of cliched jrpgs, I'll keep an eye on it. I think that they should hold this off and upgrade it to 3DS though, as it could do with the technical boost.
@ BelmontHeir Tail Concerto that's the game I was thinking of when I watched this vid. Also reading the comments I guess the furies will like this game. I guess. Still I have to wait to see if it is worth even picking up yeah it look cool but will they butcher it with a english only voice acting gah. DX
I don't see what's the big deal, I still get the occasional boner from Swat Cats. Either way, the only thing i'm worried about in that game is the dull looking combat.
WOW FUCKING AMAZING VISUALS
I like furries they're cool. I'll have a go at this amazing looking game.
Seriously those visuals are fucking impressive for a DS game.
Just looking at most of these comments... really? I mean I've seen George Lucas and Steven Spielberg buttf**king Indiana Jones and a Storm Trooper now thanks to South Park and that isn't going to prevent me from playing a Star Wars game. Jesus Christ.
In any case, the game looks cool, the characters look unique, and the are style is very sweet. I'll play it.

looks like it's taking place in a really similar world, so despite not being a direct sequel I'm still pretty excited for this.
Badly drawn furry art however, I will kill baby sharks. Don't fucking test me either.
OH GOD FURRIES. FURRIES EVERYWHERE.
FUCK THIS SHIT I'M OUTTA HERE. *jumps out window*

Fucking children.
Can't we all just agree that Conkers bad fur day was the shit?
Gotta admit though, it looks pretty polished.
@gamescook
