Socom snack pack

Socom snack pack photo

Kindly Dtoid reader Jayeugene sent us a picture of the above "gamer snack pack" from Zipper Interactive, which inevitably leads me to the question: What kind of obscure foreign crack are these f*cking marketing people smoking? What kind of game tie-in is this supposed to be? What does powdered lemon lime electolyte drink have to do with Socom? You know, I'm so in the mood for Naval Special Warfare Command today, but before I get on that, I need ... a fruit bar? I'm not sure if Zipper realized beforehand that there's nothing like a fruit bar in the middle of combat to make a man look like a hungry wuss. The Navy doesn't breed pussies, Zipper. Stop trying to make us look bad. Next time send a clip and a bloody arm. I'll eat that.

Oni
SOCOM is a military-themed game. The packages shown in the picture is an MRE (Meal, Ready-to-Eat). These are typically deployed among troops where there is no organized eating arrangement (mess tent, mess hall etc), or to troops that are going to be away from the base of operations for a significant amount of time.

It's actually a very appropriate tie-in, I think.

Eh, it might be appropriate, but it's kind of thin, don't you think? It could be any military game -- nothing but the label ties it to SOCOM, whereas the "Hi-Potion" drinks are very identifiable as FF.

I kinda agree with Oni despite Nex's apparent swooning. Especially considering that Nex just authored an article about this very topic not two days ago! remember? Very surprised that he doesn' have more to say..(becoming obselete) he will likely become usurped by his new born once it arrives....

its a cereal bar for quick energy, believe it or not they dont all sit around the kitchen table eating pancakes and reading the paper when deployed into action

And proving yet again that a woman knows nothing about war, this is an MRE, albeit a slimmed down facsimilie of one, and thus very appropriate for a tie in to SOCOM.

"What is testicular fortitude?"
"It's what makes men go to war and keeps women in the kitchen."

Sexism is fun, ain't it shikoku? Back to the kitchen with ye, Nagiko! Even if the MRE is appropriate, it's still lame.

I've seen lamer tie-ins. I think this MRE things is fine. What I think is lame, is the Legendary edition of halo 3 that comes with a helmet, thats only for display purposes only, you cant even wear it. Lame.
