The majority of people who played SOCOM: Confrontation have reported many of the same problems that the beta had. Disconnections, long loading times, and even game freezes have been reported since the first hour of release. Sony’s servers apparently weren’t ready for the massive amount of users that would grace Slant Six's shooter. Thankfully, a “stability patch” is on the horizon that will address all of those issues and more.
A posting on the official SOCOM blog by director of development Seth Luisi indicated that work is being done and that a patch should arrive fairly soon:
...we are also working on a new client patch which resolves some client side stability issues. These issues include getting booted to the XMB, large number of players getting disconnected from a specific game and other issues. We've been working on and testing this since the game launched and we should have a final version ready for release in the next week or so...
I was often discouraged during the beta with the frequent disconnects initially. But in the course of the beta, I was very happy with the way Slant Six managed to smooth it out. How many of you are having issues with the game thus far?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I thought we already had saltpeter. (Typoes suck.)
In all seriousness though, they really should have fixed stuff like this before such a quick release. Hell, I didn't know it was even coming out this soon. Then again I never do anymore, which is a sad thing about today's development cycles. I miss the days when a game was announced and info and such would slowly trickle over a year or two, the game would come out, and it was great. Nowadays, something gets announced, a week later has a beta, then comes out under the radar a month later riddled with glitches and with no substance BECAUSE NAO WE HAZ PATCHES AN DLC! :D
unlike CoD4, "hurry the fuck up, ohh the host left the room. now less time"
The times that the game has worked has been a real blast (I've neglected Dead Space more than I should to get in a couple games of Socom). Real fun with all that you can do in the game to win, but when the game fucks up, man does it suck.
Plus no vehicles, but everyone seems to enjoy the lack of those.
Slant Six has nothing to do with the servers. They're all Sony side. If it makes anyone feel better, the game works awesome on our servers.
"Seriously why did Sony release Socom in it's current state? First the on launch trophy support, that was promised isn't there, and now continueing stability problems? Why?"
Yeah, we actually agree. We hounded them about the servers, but they apparently didn't add enough. And just a heads up -- we were told we needed Trophy Support the same day the rest of the world learned trophies were coming out on 'x' day. So basically, 90% into development, we were told to make a trophy system.
