Sony has announced that SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 won't be making its previously announced January 12 release. Sony hasn't yet announced the updated release date for the PlayStation Portable third-person shooter, but promises "a new release date in the coming weeks."
Admittedly, I'm not a huge SOCOM fan. I remember purchasing the series' debut back when it was launched, only to get the PlayStation 2 headset. I spent a few hours getting shot down (and hard) online before deciding that a better use for the headset would be to communicate with my buddies about which loot I needed for Champions of Norrath.
But having gotten my hands on Fireteam Bravo 3 a few weeks ago, I was a bit surprised. I wasn't assaulted with having to spend too much time commanding my two A.I teammates, instead focusing on what I do best -- shoot at things without thinking very hard. The focus of the game seems based purely in action, and the mechanics on the PSP felt pretty good, with an auto-aim and assist that had me taking out terrorists like it was my job.
But it's not my job. My job is to find out when Fireteam Bravo 3 will hit shelves, and as soon as I find out, I'll let you know.
I haven't owned a SOCOM game since the part 2 on the PS2.... and I can't tell you why. Not that I didn't enjoy the game, but never felt inclined to continue on.
You said it BrickFist. They can shove this one. I tried to take up for Slant Six and this game at one point, but turns out that the only thing they've ever done in videogames is break promises and deadlines.
