SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 gets dated, pre-order goodies photo

Sony has announced that SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 will be available for PlayStation Portable on November 24. Yes, that's right -- a third one.

Admittedly, I can't act too excited about this, but for those who are, you may be interested in some fancy pre-order bonuses in the form of new special forces and weapons. Pre-ordering the game from the usual retail subjects will get you the F2000 assault rifle-wielding Kommando Speizialkraft and the Special Air Service, which can use the AS-50 BMG sniper/anti-material rifle.

If you're lazy and don't feel like going the brick and mortar route (or will own the UMD-less PSPgo which hits stores on October 1), you can download the game via PlayStation Network. Do so in the first 30 days after its release, get the above goodies.

Any SOCOM fans in the house?

Ive been wanting to get into Socom but I didn't really like it on PS3. Are the ones for the PSP any good? Are they worth a try if your a PSP owner, I never played Socom on ps2, it didn't interest me. But for those that played the PSP versions, what do you say? Is it worth a shot?

No. Sorry. It's just not a very good series.

I loved the online play in SOCOM:FTB2!! It was actually pretty awesome for a handheld - no lag, solid voice chat and really fun gameplay. I remember many happy online hours with that game!

(and pascuz... if the next game is anything like the last one... the online play was really incredible... not as fancy as the console versions - but really solid graphics and gameplay)

Fire team bravo 2 is very good the first one not so much....if you want something more “tactical” socom tactical strike its fun, the gameplay is like Full Spectrum Warrior.

@pascuz:

It's a solid series, Xzyliac might just not like it because it has no Halo assault rifles or he got yelled at for not having a mic.

Hell rent the series (super cheap on either the PS2 or PSP), I suck at the PS3 one but I've always had a good time with the other ones.

In short, U.S. Special Operations Command prepares assigned forces to carry out special operations, psychological operations and civil affairs missions as required. Also, the command plans for and conducts special operations if directed by the president or the secretary of Defense. These operations may be conducted in peacetime or during hostilities. SOF have been employed in more than 95 percent of the military contingencies accomplished since the Vietnam War.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs is a video game classified as a tactical third-person shooter developed by Zipper Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is an exclusive title for the PlayStation 2. SOCOM was released on August 27, 2002, and is one of the earliest online titles available for the PS2's online adapter.

In addition to the 12 offline single player missions, SOCOM also features online play via the internet at no additional charge to the customer. SOCOM additionally uses a USB headset for its speech recoginition commands offline, and allows voice chat with teammates when playing online; this was the first game for the PS2 to use the headset. As of November 6, 2003, the game has sold 2 million copies worldwide, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America.

This can be as quick as issuing a kill command via targeting a bad guy and tapping button or as complicated as holding a button and navigating the on-screen command tree for options such as holding fire, firing at will, and holding positions.
Don't worry, though; Wraith won't be a sideline reporter.
