SOCOM: Confrontation update delayed until January photo

A few weeks ago we reported that SOCOM: Confrontation would be receiving an update that would fix over 100 different problems. These ranged from gameplay mechanics to network functions. A recent update on the official SOCOM blog indicates that the patch has been put on hold because of the holidays. The team wasn’t able to push it through the validation stages and as a result, won’t be coming until early-to-mid January.

The lack of the update has members of the SOCOM community up in arms. The posting that delivered the news has over 200 comments, the majority of which are fairly negative.

The SOCOM community is a dedicated bunch – but it seems as though the vocal minority feels rather cheated. Honestly, they probably have every right to. The game isn’t as polished as it could have been and it’s a shame. Hopefully, Slant Six will be able to deliver the goods after this holiday break.

[Thanks, Tony!]

Sony rushed this game out the door too quick and that's too bad because the SOCOM series was really popular on the ps2. I dont like the idea of up dating games after release, but then again that really wouldn't be the fault of the developers.

This game is such a niche title that I really don't think that any amount of patches would be able to broaden it's appeal or it's playability. The only people you really see complaining right now are the hardcore fans, because they are the only ones who actually care about this turd of a game.

I bought it (unfortunately) and I haven't really touched it past the first week of me trying to force myself to like it.

What's amazing is that it still maintains to be the best fucking multi-player shooter in existence.

Wish they got it right when the game came out.
