SOCOM: Confrontation patch is live photo

According to a posting on the SOCOM blog, update 1.30 for SOCOM: Confrontation went live today. It fixed over 100 problems related to gameplay and network performance. Servers went down at 5 A.M. (EST) to accommodate the hefty patch, and reported back to service around 7 A.M.

If SOCOM’s servers were sentient, they would feel remorse. All player statistics were wiped this morning. The deletion resolved problems with incorrect recordings and their relation with the Trophy patch.

It seems like a lot of Confrontation talk is bitter. Are any of you excited about this patch? Has it improved the game? Is there anything else Slant Six needs to address?

[Thanks, Anthony!]

Wow. Sounds like this is Warhawk all over again. Can't wait to try it out, but having your progress wiped just sucks.

Just downloaded it, playing right now. Patch is something like 560mb, so it may take a while. I can post some impressions later, if you're interested.

A couple of my friends play it, and are out of town, so impressions would be awesome.

@iroN1c - Definitely, man. C-blog it!

@Guttlesswonder - yeah, I would imagine ... but it's for the betterment of the game, right?

Since I am at work it would be great to know what to expect, so I would love some community impressions.

Ever since the beta, I have not wanted to touch this game.

It's like a brokne Socom 1 with broken Socom 1 graphics.

GJ new dev. Time to wait for MAG now.

@Brad oh hell yes. It may suck, but it helped WH immensely. Enough so that it went from a terrible experience to one of my favorite games in years.

I'm excited about it. The gameplay is great, but the game joining structure is weak. This fixes that. All good in my book. Can't wait for FNF.

I'm in the same boat with Trev. I didn't find the gameplay all that (I actually dig using sixaxsis for leanout) but the lobby system needed some work!

Reminds me of Warhawk, but if it had the same issues Warhawk did with it's leaderboards, deleting stats is rightful. Before the Warhawk patch, I went up 5 ranks in one match.

I haven't played for about a month, but picking up and playing the newly patched version seems pretty promisable. The lag was at a minimum (though the 16 on 16 match i played was rough at times) and the gameplay seemed to flow smoothly. As far as the party making capabilities its still pretty shitty, only allows for 16 on 16 games. And I haven't seen anything where I can join a friend's game. But I could be wrong. Overall its a step in the right direction.

The patch made the game worse. The data error pops up every five seconds now. Clans with more than 40 players have lost their tags and can not quit the clan, add new members, and have lost there specialized weapons for the faction they picked. Servers clear out entire rooms more often now than before. From all the blogs and post I have read thus far, it seems the better your connection is to the internet the more problems you have with disconnects.

Stats for some people did not reset at all. People teleport across the screen more frequently than ever. Sniper rifles are less effective, d-pad lean is back but you can not zoom in and shoot while using it. Shooting out windows or through rails or over rails is still a problem.

I think the review I read where the score was a 4 was a tad bit high in my eyes and I have played this game since socom 1, socom 2, socom 3 & combined assult. Releasing this game missing over have the features talked about in the booklette was a bad idea by the PR. And when thy make a patch to fix something and it makes it worse after that patch then it was before the patch, maybe they should just give up and give the game back to Zipper.
