I... I don't know what to say! I expected Nintendo to do something big for their Mario Kart Wii launch party, but they're recruiting a 1990s television star to host it? That's weird!
Jason Priestley, star of the popular TV drama Beverly Hills 90210, will host the launch party at the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Plaza. Fans can attend and line up to compete in the Mario Kart Wii Challenge to win a chance to race the former teen star.
Now, before you go reaching for the caps key, know that Priestley does have some relevance to racing. After his decade-long stint with 90210, he moved on to racing. The press release says that he used to be a driver and a race analyst, and now he owns the Rubicon Race Team, which will race in its first Indianapolis 500 in May.
It still seems a bit weird to me, but I guess celeb power never hurts. It all goes down on Saturday, April 26 from 2-6 p.m. It's bad they couldn't work something out with 90210's Jennie Garth -- I used to have the hots for her.
For the rest of you, Mario Kart Wii hits stores on Sunday, April 27.
Were there any good television shows in the 1990s?
Also, first.
Wow Dale, you must be young.
The 90s had awesome shows.
Fresh Prince of Bell Air
Family Matters
X-files
Sliders
Boy Meets World
On the cartoon side
Spider-man
X-men
Mighty Max
Reboot
Beast Wars
Ronin Warriors
Batman
and many others
How can you forget South Park?
Seriously Dale, how old are you? 18?
They should get Joey Lawrence or Sixx to host this launch.
Wow, just wow
about almost all Nick shows were great then (you know..Rockos Modern Life, AHHH! Real Monsters, Doug, All that, Kenan and Kel...just to name a few.)
and it also started Cartoon Network. Before it went bleh like now. Dexter, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken..What a Cartoon show.
come now Dale. You must remember how well the 90s were compared to TV now.
Sure there was crappy shows, like Buffy, Dawsons Creek,Gilmore Girls and all that shit on the WB meant for teenage girls with emotional problems.
How can you hate Seinfield or Newsradio?
And Buffy was great - As was Ren and Stimpy.
And, by asking "Were there any good television shows in the 1990s?" I wasn't implying that there wasn't any.
I don't believe you for an instant. How could you be below the age of 25 and hold a job as a professional bloggist?
I can forgive you.

Pendejo.
Are you afraid of the dark was awesome too before they just got rid of the original cast. Same could be said for All That. I don't even know how I forgot Ren and Stimpy.
and 90s was also the years when Saturday Morning Cartoons were actually....something to get up 8 in the morning for.
Either way I can understand why you think the 90s suck.
I'm 23 btw.
I got nothing else
p.s. 90s sucked
P.S. I was always strangely attracted to Gabrielle Carteris
And STP rocked the 90s.
I myself can only choose one, and smash bros. online play left a really, really bitter taste in my mouth, and really, aside from a new plastic thingie to put my wiimote in (that sounds naughty) mario kart isn't really arguing its way into priority over GTA very well.
Oh, and Ian Ziering was fucking harsh.
oh shit, it was 80s... but it went into the early 90s
I don't like how the passing years make me older
'nuff said.
The 90's was such a sweet decade for TV:
- Are You Afraid of the Dark (which, by the way, you can watch several episodes of on Youtube this very moment)
- Friends
- Simpsons (the good episodes)
- I agree with Byrc on Newsradio (still watching reruns when they're on)
- Seinfeld
The 90s was the heyday of the sitcom and the animated feature. I can't name a single sitcom today that's worthy of my time and I grow ill watching all cartoons become some faux educational experience. Cartoons are for Saturday mornings and should be about as mindless as possible.
I think I just finally came to terms with the 90s being over. *sob*
