So, LEGO Minecraft is really happening photo

Get all of the jokes out of your system now before the concept of LEGO Minecraft comes full circle.

Having pitched the idea by way of LEGO CUUSOO, Mojang easily garnered over 10,000 supporters. Considering the overlap between people young and old alike who enjoy LEGO and Minecraft, it's no surprise. The project has officially passed internal review and will proceed.

Yes, this is going to be a real product now. Question is, are you on board? I'm curious to see which aspects of the game they focus on.

I don't get it. All Legos are blocks and can make "Minecraft" structures.

So is this a physical block set for a game about building blocks based off of physical block sets. Huh.

@Magnalon

Those are Minecraft blocks made of Lego blocks.

I shall buy at least five sets, and assemble a massive scene in my office.
It shall be epic and brilliant.

Take a normal LEGO $5 set, replace the guy's round head with a square and then charge $20 for it. It's as bad as some game's DLC packs...

Minecraft exploits the concept of Lego, Lego then exploits the licence of Minecraft. The circle of life is complete.

The LEGO set in the header is kind of neat, and I would contemplate buying it. But I want you to look at the other suggested set. If it wasn't for the title of the article, I would just assume it was a plain unbranded set of LEGOs. I hope that a portion of those 10,000 signature realized just how dick blisteringly retarded this is.

The people who voted for Lego Minecraft are the same people who got Minecraft into the Smithsonian. With them it's Minecraft first, logic and reasoning fiftieth.

(2-49 are also Minecraft.)

this appears to just be those thin lego 1x1's stacked on top of each other.....so these pillars arent event attached to each other.

But ya... Lego already has a Minecraft series its called Legos

They did used to make lego games for the pc, why not just make a mod that stamps the Lego logo on there and anything you build can be made into a kit and charged per block and bought off their website?

I don't blame Lego in the slightest for green lighting this. They know an oxymoron like Minecraft Lego blocks will sell to adults who normally wouldn't just do this with regular blocks.

i already knew that Minecraft just like Angry Birds is another gimmicky Tickle-Me-Elmo crap, but wow. just wow. i already knew that Minecraft audience are in general an army of retards, especially given the "praise" this "game" got, but i think that this is the new low.

This is...hilarious. Considering how I used to play the shit out of Legos when I was a kid and now I play a shit ton of Minecraft, this is just too funny. The problem with this being that normal Legos would suffice without the Minecraft theme. Most of the most awesome stuff in Minecraft would be lost due to actual physics denying it. No weird water ladders, or floating geological formations, or unintentional creeper gauntlet runs. Just you and your blocks like creative mode.

Thats kind of a weird concept to me isnt Lego already like Minecraft, a freeform thing where you can build anything you want? Then why bother with a Lego Minecraft?

@jibberwocky: ya I figured that it would be so easy to shop, but to get a realistic minecraft texture it would need to be done that way.

If not theres no point back to everyones "wtf"

The main reason people will get these rather than build them themselves is because you'd have to buy large packs of certain types of brick, and it would be more expensive in the long run. It's like telling anyone who eats a pizza to just cook their own.

they should make Eggos out of Legos so then you could say "LEGO my EGGO" and it would be a real thing that existed. Also, Minecraft.

So a game about building crap with blocks can get 10000 supporters and approved but a set based off Valkyria Chronicles, a game that would actually make sense as a set, can't even get 10. In the words of the great Professor Hubert Farnsworth "I don't want to live on this planet anymore".

In another note go support the Valkyria Chronicles set http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8290

If LEGO make new cube bricks with textures printed on the side and unique minifigs that would be cool. If it's like the examples given in the proposal, it would just be LEGO with more building limitations.

This is a terrible idea. LEGO and Minecraft are similar concepts, but they have their strengths and weaknesses. LEGO has a wider variety of block shapes and different pieces which allow for more complex creations (which wont be there with Minecraft based blocks), and Minecraft has water, lava, creatures, and the ability for blocks to float(which wont be possible in physical LEGO form). So, this will have all the disadvantages of both and none of the advantages. Then again, it is kinda cool.
