So here's what GTA: Chinatown Wars looks like on the PSP photo

Rockstar Games has released the first screenshots of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the PlayStation Portable today and... it definitely looks like Chinatown Wars.

The major differences you'll see in the screens versus the Nintendo DS version is a higher resolution (and widescreen) and the lack of a second screen. Everything else, from what we can tell, looks the same. We're still curious as to how the game will play, and whether or not Rockstar has adapted touch-screen gameplay elements to the PSP or ripped them out altogether.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available on October 20.

Looking good, can't wait for this one.

About the touch screen elements, they're easy adaptable. Like how you unscrew the panel to hot wire cars, you can totally use the analog nub and use quick time events for some of the other elements.

I would have thought that PSP owners would much prefer a "San Andreas Stories" game to a DS game conversion.

I imagine it will play almost exactly like GTA and GTAII... ah the good old days!

You guys have forgotten what GTA is without 3D and stylus mini-games!

Looks good, but unless the new content is excellent, I don't see how this one will be better. Maybe as good, but not better.

@shogunu,
that's exactly how stealing radios from cars in the PSP version of The Warriors worked. The new controls for Chinatown Wars will be just fine.

I say bring on the hotwiring. Not having to switch control methods on the fly anymore will definitely work in the game's favor.

if you ever played the warriors on psp you can see how all of the touchscreen elements can be incorporated, you had to do similar things when hotwiring cars and such

@casualweaponry and whormongr, never got the chance to play The Warriors, totally flew under my radar for some reason. But if i can imagine ways to incorporate the touch screen elements i'm sure Rockstar can too :)

And, as atastysammich points out, it might work out for the better on the PSP since you wouldn't need to switch the control method on the fly.

@shogunu,
play The Warriors. The PSP or PS2 version should be dirt cheap. It is one of the best movie based video games ever, no lie. And coincidentally, it was also made by Rockstar games.

Ugh, this looks terrible graphics-wise.

I've just watched some gameplay videos, The Warriors looks really nice but it's a bit too much brawl for my taste (yeah, i know that's how the movie plays out :D). I like my violent videogames to be "weaponized".

It's definitely looks better. I definitely would have preferred the aforementioned San Andreas Stories, though.

@casualweaponry:: Uhhhh...Chinatown Wars is rendered in 3D. They just use a similar camera angle to GTA and GTA2.

It looks like crap. They should've at least gotten the graphics to par with the other GTA PSP games.

I hope it has a soundtrack on par with the GTA Stories series, which in turn are almost on par with the regular GTAs.

I'm buying this. Loved it on my DS, but alas, I don't play the damn thing anymore.

I kinda liked the heavily cartoonish look on the DS. Great game, regardless.
