Sniper: Ghost Warrior sequel confirmed photo

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is getting a sequel, despite the first one being absolutely dreadful.

For some reason (possibly due to its generic macho name), the game sold ludicrous amounts of copies in the United Kingdom, getting into the charts and staying there for quite a while. Of course, we don't know how many gamers swiftly returned the awful game, but those first sales are what count, and so we have a sequel.

City Interactive will be using CryEngine 3 and aims to bring the game to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The first game is currently awaiting a PS3 port in February, which will arrive with a number of fixes to the original code. Whether those fixes make the thing playable remains to be seen.

This is a sad day for videogames.

This isn't the first time a shitty game has gotten a sequel.

I quite liked the first game. The campaign was dross but there was a real art to headshotting on the harder difficulties. Working out bullet drop and wind speed made skull cracking someone vert satisfying.

The online was barren tho. Barren of players like the cast of sex and the city are barren of talent, a decent script writer and a soul.

Oh it's not such a sad day for video games... Just go play some Duck Hunt and refer to yourself as the Ghost Warrior while you headshot those little ducks and it will be a GREAT DAY FOR VIDYA GAMS.

Also, FUCK THAT DAMN DOG AND HIS CHUCKLES, Ghost Warrior Sniper Face will put bullets through his big white eyes.

Oh< Jim. You hated Two Worlds but seemed pretty happy with what was going on with Two Worlds 2. Maybe it will be the same here

Jim Sterling. The one man who will hate that a game that could use improvements via a sequel (Sniper) but will praise a game that doesnt need a sequel (Left 4 Dead).

Plus this isnt the first time a shitty game got a sequel. Look at Fable, it's gotten TWO SEQUELS.

SephirothX: So you genuinely believe Sniper 2 will be a good game. Fair enough.

Honestly? No I dont think it will be a good game. But hey, you never know. The team that made Devil May Cry 3 was the same team that made Devil May Cry 2.

SephirothX: Not sure if you played Sniper, but I don't think this team is capable of DMC3.

You're probably right and I demoed Sniper for a little bit and didn't think it was necessarily bad but just something that didnt catch much interest from me, just thought I'd make that point just because I've seen crazier shit happen.

I skipped the first one, but was drawn to it, I may very well check the sequel out.

I wonder if there's anything to Sniping being particularly popular in the UK?

If Two Worlds can get a sequel, anything can get a sequel.

Apparently I directly compared Sniper to Two Worlds, I must have quoted it somewhere exactly like that.

What I actually said was that if a shitty game like Two Worlds can get a sequel, then so can an average game with little to no fanbase and a lot of glitches that ruin the overall experience. Therefore a surprise shouldn't really be in order here.

Oh right, this is the internet.

My bad.

Sniper was actually using the Chrome Engine, which is Techland's engine used for titles like Call of Juarez and nail'd.

I might have to check the 1st one out on PS3, at a budget price mind you.

You would not believe how many copies of this game get sold where I work.

Everybody comes to look at CODMW2, COD:BlOps, Medal of Honor and several other $60 dudebro war games - then they see this 'Sniper: Ghost Warrior', which looks incredibly similar, for $40. To them, it's an easy choice. I seriously see at least one copy sold every day. It's crazy.

I'm in the UK and I was one of those mugged by this game. I dunno, maybe I was stupid enough to think 'how hard can it be to screw up a beautifully simple concept like sniper'..?

Turns out, not too hard at all. After my very first session with the game I knew I'd just been robbed. Ah well. Sniper remains a tantalizing concept in need of some talent to realise it. There is a good game to be had in there, somewhere, but this one really wasn't it.

As someone else already said in this thread - if Two Worlds can get a sequel, nobody should be too shocked this rancid pile of turd also gets a second crack of the whip. We'll see how that works out for the publisher second time around, but don't expect to find me quite so willing to be kicked in the nuts again...

Is it bad that I was REALLY tempted into buying this during the Steam sale? Didn't get it, but yeah.

This game is the sole supporter of it's genre at the moment, that's why it sold so well. I bought it myself because I haven't played a sniping themed game since sniper elite on my original Xbox. If buying a sub par game is needed to support a genre that is under produced, then so be it. Hopefully they put some more effort into the sequel.
