Sniper: Ghost Warrior for PC, 360 getting patched up soon photo

City Interactive's Sniper: Ghost Warrior shipped last week, but it's not without some technical issues. The publisher knows this, and has confirmed with us today that a patch for both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game will be coming within the next two weeks.

What does it fix? Here's the rundown:

  • Modifications to several important AI issues;
  • Modifications to several GUI problems, such as (a) registration of internet profile; (b) multiplayer statistics; and (c) the removal of the ugly blink after exiting to other menus;
  • Several multiplayer bugs will also be fixed (i.e., running outside the map, getting stuck in one place);
  • Increased ability to hold your breath in the multiplayer mode will be added;
  • The engine crash experienced on some PC configurations will be fixed.

Wondering where our review is? We'll be waiting for the patch, as it seems like it fixes a handful of issues that might affect our final score. And at least now you know what's what. If you're having the above issues, hold tight.

@Nick

The headline and the text don't match... Headline says PS3 getting patched, body says 360!

Just finished the sp on the pc not an hour ago. Got stuck twice and the game crashed twice, but other than that everything seemed fine.

This was a good "in-between" game. You know, something to keep you busy in between good games. It wasn't bad, but I'm not going to give it a second playthrough, either.

I think this game is half decent for a game from a nobody studio.

There's a fair amount of glitches and such, but the environment is so pretty, sniping is a pleasure, and the bullet-cam rocks.

This isn't a $60 game, but it's a good $30 game, I'd say.

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone that likes Smash TV and/or shmups, and the PS2 version is about $5 new on Amazon so there's really no excuse for passing up on it..

I played it just a couple weeks back and it was some of the most fun I've had in a long while.

I thought Destructoid doesn't encourage publisher's releasing broken/ unfinished games. Is it really fair to wait for the patch before reviewing this one?

You should judge a game how it's released. If they released a flawed game, then there's no excuse.

Uh, whoops.

I meant that for the Red Star review, and I forgot which tab was which.

Ignore that.

@goodguyA: a lot of reviewers ignored or brushed over MW2's glitches and balance issues that took months to fix and they still haven't fixed everything. So why not give another developer who is at least trying to quickly get its act together do so?

I'd say it's okay to wait as long as it gets patched quick. People bitch about "unfinished" games all the time and tend to have double standards about it. Spaz is right, MW2's numerous glitches were ignored as it got GOTY over and over.

Yeah, you guys gave Eternity's Child a harsh review, and didn't even bother updating the review after it was patched, claiming that that's the version that was sent for review. So it's a bit hypocritical to not review this one since you're waiting for it to be patched.

What about the sound issues in the game? I have yet to see a viable solution to this issue. I have installed & uninstalled it numberous times, and still get no sound in the game on my PC.
I have gone through everybody's suggestions as to how to fix this problem, but nothing has worked thus far.

Definitely should not wait for the patch to come out. They decided to release the game with all these issues. The review should reflect the experiences of all those early adopters who got screwed.

Usually we judge games based on the state they arrive in and make no concessions for patches. However, I was relieved as hell when Nick suggested we wait for it because the game is, in this current state, borderline unplayable.

Don't worry though, I will mention the pre-patch state in the review, absolutely, because it's disgusting the state this thing is in.

I think slack should also be given to small devs.

There's no excuse for Activison or EA to release a game in this state because they have the resources to fix it before launch. These guys have very little to work with.

The game is to buggy right now.

Actually if possible I think reviewers should wait for patches.
3 years down the line, if you look for a game that was launched buggy (i.e. Vanguard) you will only find bad reviews when in fact the game is now good which can be a shame.

Reviewers could also revisit games but that will never happen of course.

The Xbox 360 version isn't "unplayable". I've already beaten it with just one freeze.
