SMITE now taking your pre-orders, beta begins soon
First of all, don't get confused. The upcoming action-MOBA title SMITE is still free-to-play. However, you can now plunk down twenty of your hard-earned dollars and not only be guaranteed beta access, but you'll get an extra ten heroes to play. You can also decide to unlock extra heroes with time played, just as you would in Hi-Rez's other free-to-play title, Tribes: Ascend. From the looks of it, this is only a limited-time offer and eventually it'll go up to $30. Oh, and there's a beta countdown timer as well, which will hit zero in about 16 days! You can check out the pre-order information here. I played SMITE back at PAX East and had a pretty great time. My favorite part was definitely the option to auto-buy your items, since I think that will allow newer players to ease into the game better. Are you MOBA fiends looking forward to adding another game to your list? Or will you be passing up on SMITE? Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I'll definitely check this game out, but I'm not expecting too much. Already have SMNC for 3rd person style. I'm also more comfortable with dota2. Dota2 also has an auto buy option as I recall, and I keep that "off" since part of the strategy in games like this is item choice and surprise to your opponent.
I wonder if they'll adopt SMNC's FOW vision since this game is 3rd person, too. Looks decent enough, the only thing is with so many high quality f2p MOBAs already around unless an IP is exceptional I don't see it gathering a huge following. 7:30 PM on 06.18.2013 Nintendo trying its hand at free-to-play with Steel DiverThat upcoming free-to-play Nintendo game? 8:00 PM on 06.17.2013 Dota 2 will be 'released' this summerIt's a bit weird when games that are so widely played and enjoyed shed their beta tag and are "released." I mean, I've dumped almost 400 hours into Dota 2, and it's technically not "out" yet. Anywho, Valve has finally confirm...

4:40 PM on 06.11.2013 Killer Instinct may not be 'free-to-play' in a bad wayEarlier today, it was reported that Killer Instinct for the Xbox One would be completely free-to-play, thus putting a rather large, nasty elephant in the room of an otherwise positive prospect. But it appears as if Doubl...
