Smells like Nirvana's Nevermind is coming to Rock Band photo

Harmonix/MTV Games's upcoming music/rhythm game Rock Band will support downloadable musical content, and we've learned that Nirvana's popular album Nevermind will be among those releases.

Nirvana's Nevermind rocked the early 1990's with its smash single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and eventually went platinum, moving over 25 million albums worldwide.

CVG says that the album download will be made available after the game launches later this year, but no release date has been given. The first downloadable album will be The Who's Who's Next, which MTV Games says will be available soon after the game's release.

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard and self-assured
Oh, no, I know a dirty word

Hello, Hello, Hello, How Low (x3)
Hello, Hello, Hello

With the lights, out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yeah

Hey...Yay

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group (tribe) has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, Hello, Hello, How Low (x3)
Hello, Hello, Hello

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
[Smells Like Teen Spirit lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Here we are now, entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yeah

Hey...Yay

(guitar solo)

And I forget just why I taste
Oh, yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind

Hello, Hello, Hello, How Low (x3)
Hello, Hello, Hello

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido

Yeah a denial
A denial! (x9)

how in the fuck is the mic going to know you're on pitch or not? Kurt Cobain didn't know if he was on pitch

@ Bahamut:

The game, somehow, can recognize growls and shouts and the like, so it takes that into consideration. How? I don't know. But it was something they had to do if they were going to have a "rock" themed game.

On a side note, can I say "Holy crap?" I heard about this awhile ago and I said, "Holy crap," but I think it needs to be said again.

they should give extra points if you can sound like Kurt Cobain.

Secondly, how will they do smells like teen spirit? That riff is impossible to do with buttons, only bar chords and strokes.

Wasn't this the 3rd album? Also: let's do a poll for the cost. I'd say 1500 MS points minimum. Gogogo!

Argh, I'll never be able to spend that kind of money. Can I just get the disc and keep my old GH2 guitar and use that?

Also; new avatar Dale? I liked the old one better, I think. Not that I knew who that little guy was or why he was raising his arms angrily. Or whatever it was.

Yeah, they need to release the game for those who choose to play with a wired guitar. I don't want to drop $200 on it, but I'm open to picking it up along with GH3.

Ewwww... if they're gonna do grunge, at least do an old Pearl Jam album that'd be more suitable for... playing. Most Nirvana songs are boring as hell for a game like this, that thing off GH II was a nightmare (can't even remember which one it was, since I never play it). Also, if Courtney Love is still making money off this, DO NOT BUY D=.

Get a guitar, an amp and look up song tabs.

Seriously, ever since I got an actual guitar, I can't give a rat's ass bout Guitar Hero and I'm not very excited for Rock Band. I'll mooch off a friend's place for the drum set, but only because they're so expensive.

I'm not ripping on the game, I just can't care. Besides, chicks dig actual guitars.

This is Nirvana's second full-length album.

And comparing this game to playing actual guitar, bass, or drums is silly, and it needs to stop happening.

All proceeds go to the Courtney Love "Buy me some more smack because I deserve the money more than people who were actually in the band" fund.

If they want to throw down some 90s classics, I'd send a midget hooker over to blow anyone who managed to get Live's Throwing Copper as a downloadable album.

But as long as the price is right, this would end up on my hard drive. Hopefully my ass wont hurt as hard when I see the prices, like with other guitar based games on live.
