Slant Six is confronting technical issues with the SOCOM: Confrontation beta

Today, SOCOM: Confrontation developer Slant Six threw out an update in an attempt to fix some of the issues that have been crippling the game’s newly released public beta. Thus far, there’s a laundry list of problems, but the most apparent are the ridiculously long load times between matches and the latency affecting matches with over two people in them.

In a statement yesterday (via Edge), Slant Six confirmed the aforementioned problems, and promised an update patch that went live today. Unfortunately, the patch hasn’t exactly fixed issues or reduced congestion on the swollen servers as of this afternoon. The team behind the patch expects that the issues won’t be “completely resolved until the end of next week” and also mentioned that the maintenance and patch “are not meant to address all issues.”

So, it may be time to saddle up and wait until midnight to get a few good games in. We’ll have our full impressions of the SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation beta available to you whenever the game is stabilized and we feel that it is near-release quality.

It was actually Sony that was doing most of that, as it's Sony's servers that are the problem. The game runs fine when not .. well, deluged as it is.

That's what they get for leaving me out of the beta, even after I gushed all schoolgirl-like about them on the front page -- when nobody else cared about the games.

Not really, but it makes me feel better for not being able to join the beta.
