Bethesda is giving you almost endless power with their Skyrim Creation Kit. This new video briefly goes over how deep this mod tool really is, as well as how seamlessly it works with Skyrim Workshop on Steam for uploading and sharing mods. I don't think I could ever figure out how to use this with its scene editors, dialogue views and artists tools, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the modding community does with it all.
Crazy Skyrim mods are coming soon as Bethesda says that the Skyrim Creation Kit will be available soon as a free download via Steam.

I want to know if you can mess around with the mechanics...I want to create a mod that slightly changes how looting works. I'll just have to check it out for myself!
I cant wait. Maybe my dream will come true of being able to create a land of giant wrestling rings from which my dragonborn can battle Macho Dragons for the World Skyrim Federation World Heavyweight Championship Scroll.

Which part of looting? You can change what loot there is and where it is, but Im not sure about the functionality. Like for example I dont think you could make it possible to look at a corpse and take their armor(as opposed to looting the corpse as a containter) like you do a dropped weapon.
Maybe they should fix the fucking PS3 version before they dick around doing other stuff. I haven't been able to use the product I paid for, for 2 months.
Lol i can only see the frustration and problems people will get when they are going to install mods this way, there are simply to many mods that are installed in a different way then the other causing conflicts
Nice although I am not sure how Steam workshop would handle conflicts which would undoubtedly arise, I rather manage them with something like the nexus mod manager or something.
I figured this would only be available on the PC. I wouldn't want to try to use a controller to do all this stuff anyway. Unreal Tournament III (EXTREMELY underrated, as far as I'm concerned) had a way to make PC mods work on the PS3, so that'd be pretty awesome here.

Yes, the PC master race that has to ask permission to play the games they pay full retail price for.
I agree that the PC version is the best version of Skyrim, but a lot of people -- myself included -- my games on consoles so we can actually feel like we OWN them.
Someone had better make a mod that replaces all in-game dogs models with Corgis and add in an option for pink hair for the sake of justifying the Creation Kit's existence. An RPG just isn't a proper RPG without the option to give the character hair any color of the rainbow.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Robbing shits!
I wonder if Steam Workshop will be heavily monitored for inappropriate content? Hopefully they are nottoo too strict if so.
Shame you can't port this stuff to console, oh well. Maybe Ps3 users could get lucky with Steam's integration on PSN.
Otherwise, PC is THE system to play Skyrim on now if you're undecided and have a choice.
Next up: mods to disable Amulet of Mara responses for each individual combination of genders.

Anyway, yay! for the new dialogue interface and dynamic shadow. I hope the Skyrim Workshop will give a hard time to the jackasses of Nexus.
Oh well, we will see how Steam handles mods and if the community will get up and uproot themselves from where they are already entrenched.
