Skyrim hasn't even been out for a week yet, and we are already seeing some mods for it. One worth noting isn't really even a mod, but it changes the way that you view the map in game.
The map in Skyrim is an actual 3D version of the game world, and if you add a few lines to an .ini file, you can zoom in all the way, and move around the world. This is actually amazing, and it lets you see and find things ridiculously easy.
Complete directions on how to do this can be found on Skyrim Nexus.
I wasn't surprised to find a nude mod within the first 48 hours of the game's release. It's probably going to be a while before we see some worthwhile mods, but this is definitely looking to be a good start!
@Nitex
Yeah, but 100's of mods were maybe 5 are worth downloading atm. That's excluding all the weird porn/nude mods the nexus guys love, the performance "enhancers" which are total shite, the graphical improvers which make the game look less good, and obligatory texture upscaling mods. The nice stuff won't be out for at least a week or two.
This is my favorite game of the year. It is so good. Now, we just need to able to use weapons underwater and I'd like footprints in the snow as well. LOL
Many of the worthwhile mods that are already out address shortcomings in the ui and game settings, glad to see that this has been addressed. I will grab this when I'm much further along in the game, or if I get really lost
this is the reason why I am playing skyward sword first.
The game will be so much better with mods that it would be a shame to play it before skyward sword as the game will only be better than while skyward sword will not.
Some games are made for PC, the same way there are games made for consoles. And i happy that the modding community is a giant part of the PC crowd and i love how they improve everything.
Even if I was playing on PC I wouldn't download this, way to negate a whole chunk of the game just by being able to zoom in and look anywhere you please.
The only way you'll get "mod support" is if Bethesda pick out certain mods and put them into a DLC pack, or do you think they're going to let random modders access the PSN and XBL servers and upload their mods to them?
I'd actually prefer the opposite. I want a 2D map where I can see the WHOLE map at once. All the current map is is a blanket of snow anyway. The fact that it's 3D is completely pointless. At least this mod put that to good use, I guess.
Unreal Tournament 3 had some limited mod support on the PS3 version. It would be awesome to see full mod support for console titles like Bethesda games. That would make the console versions almost as good as the PC.
I'll keep this in mind for when I make a second or third character. Seeing everything in detail like that when you've never been there seems kind of wrong.
When I heard Todd Howard say in his little preview/play-through demo video that the world map was actually rendering all all of Skyrim, I thought he was blowing smoke.
Who knew?!
I can see why they scaled back the ability to zoom all the way in, but I sure wish they would let you zoom in a few clicks more. Don't get me wrong, I love the map, but all the clouds and snow combined with the fact that you can barely see anything makes it slightly frustrating.
I would love to play this on PC, but the amount of time I spend/waste on this game is borderline profane. I NEED to be on my couch or recliner for this.

Ah who am I kidding that's fucking awesome. There's mod support on ps3 right?

but this is something that would ruin the game for me. Easy exploring? No way!!!
I mean, who wants to play video games?

Zooming in all the way is optional, you fools.
