Later today you'll be able to download the Skype Video and Voice app for PlayStation Vita from the PS Store. This will be the very first time Skype has launched video calling on a mobile gaming device. Calls work over both WiFi and 3G, and both the front and rear Vita cameras can be used for video.
A background mode for the app lets you pause a game, take a Skype call, and then get back to the action. An image on Skype's page for the app shows a pop-up message showing during a game session. Landlines can be called with Skype credit, and as always, Skype-to-Skype calls are free.
The Skype Vita app will be free to download when it becomes available on the PlayStation Store later today.
