Skylanders cross-platform across console, PC, mobile

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is hoping to be one of the hot toy products this holiday season, featuring small action figures that can be slotted into a "portal" and brought to life in an accompanying videogame. It's a deliciously "nineties" idea, which is why I dig it. It's also cross-platform, too.

The nature of the portal device means that Skylanders will work across consoles, computers and even mobile phones. Once you have your own PORTAL OF POWER OH MY CHRIST, you can load your little characters up anywhere.

That's quite nifty for what is, ultimately, something aimed at kids, and Activision is putting quite a bit of effort into it. As a big, pathetic baby, I'm somewhat looking forward to it, even if they did mangle Spyro's face into chewy lumpy bits.
