Yes, this is definitely a video for a Skate game, no doubt about it. Gander at people skating through parks and down streets, handplanting, and cracking testicles on a handrail. Why, with the exception of a brief moment (at around 0:50) where we get to see a skater dragging a lounge chair to use as a ramp, I can't tell the difference.

That's a cool feature, but they're going to have to give a little something more to convince me that this is worth buying again. I know it's EA and I shouldn't be shocked if we only get one or two minor gameplay variations and a new environment for a sequel. Nevertheless, I will still be very disappointed to see something as innovative as Skate was getting the Madden treatment.

Here's an idea: A mini-game in which you hang out in front of a convenience store and beg passers-by to purchase alcohol for you. I think it would really add a sense of realism, since I usually see people with skateboards spend more time doing that than actually riding them.

Looks like more of the same, which isn't bad at all considering how much I liked the first one. The ability to get off your board and build up your own custom lines seems pretty cool.

On a side note... will the inevitable skate 3 feature the entirely rebuilt (again) city of New New San Vanelona?

I'm just glad they allow for a stationary cameraman in replay mode. At least, that's what it looks like. And this makes me happy.

Hand plants are new. Finger flips are new. Hippy jumps are new. Walking is new. Moveable objects are new. And apparently more control over the grabs.

[sarcasm]Excellent, informed post.[/sarcasm]

I might buy the first one now. It's got to be like ten bucks right?

There is a lot new in Skate 2. As Gate pointed out, all of that is new. Also you can now create a female skater, before you could only make male skaters. Skate 2 is easily going to be the best skateboarding game to date.

Really, they don't need to do much new. I just want more environments, and I'll be happy. Hell, I'd probably be happy just going back and playing through skate. again. It's just quality fun.

New tricks, a few tweaks to the controls, a brand new environment to skate, and movable objects is more than I expected really for this sequel. I am pleased, the original Skate is one of my most favorite games ever. I still play it at least 3 times a week and I still find all new ways to skate different areas.

Also, Conrad it's "definitely" not "definately".

skate. was the experiment.

skate.2 is what we all had in mind the first time around.

I rented skate. and loved it. But it was definitely missing some key features. I decided to hold off on purchasing until the sequel. The demo, however, has stayed on my PS3 since it's release. It's had a ridiculous amount of replay value.

and there was tons of new stuff in there. you control each foot while in the air, and there were several moves that had one foot on, one foot off. doesn't matter. that beach area looks great. can't wait.

I know that writing for destructoid kind of requires that you be a cynical douchebag in an attempt at humor, and that can work. However this article is full of fail.

I hope they fired the bastard who decided that having pedestrians walk in front of you was a good idea.

My wife just got me Skate. I love it so far. This looks pretty much the same... which means I'd probably love it too.

I just wish the clothing store didn't have such lame band shirts.

I'd pay for more of the same, but this is going to run at 60fps and you'll be able to get on foot, move things around. Pure gold.

Since my brother (a skateboarder) hasn't put down the last game im pretty sure this will please a lotta people.
And what do you mean one feature? now you can:
-Get off your board
-Jump up on the board
-Plant on rails and ramps
-Move the enviroment (bits at least)
-Shove people off
- Have ruffly clothes- Thats right clothes that really ruffle people.
Even as a non skater I can say that compared to Tony Hawk this is near godlyness.

Also, yeah, as Murumasa123 points out... If those aren't new features, what were you expecting? Ability to put a rocket behind the skate? GTA like missions where you crack the head of people using your skate? (Oh god, please no)
