I hated the original Siren (or Forbidden Siren as it was known here), but I wanted so desperately to like it. It looked great and was creepy as anything, but the voice acting was pathetic and the gameplay left a lot to be desired. Now with Siren: New Translation remaking the original horror game for the PS3, I hold some hope that I will finally be able to enjoy what was a mass of terrifying potential.

It looks as scary as ever, and the English voice acting shown seems miles superior to the original. Here's hoping the rest of the game is just as good and that New Translation is everything that its original incarnation wasn't.

Only interested if it's playable this time around. Do want a next-gen horror game.

I. Am. Extremely interested. I love horror games. Fucking love them. I picked the original one up and was sad.

Ya know what else makes me sad? The fact that the PS3 library is starting to appeal to me...

I'm interested. What I heard about the original is that you could actually hide behind things and distract enemies to sneak around, and that enemies weren't dumb as rocks. I, however, haven't played the original so I don't have any experience to go on.

You can find it in the bargain bin at Gamestop for like $4.99. Too bad no 360 version announced. eff ps3. At least we get alone in the dark and SH5, even if ps3 gets em as well.

I need to fiddle with the contrast on my screen so I can actually see something in that trailer. Seems a lot like Silent Hill though, right down to the creepy siren.

I agree with the first one being bad and I wanted to like it! Hopefully this one brings something new and great to the table.

That is some creepy shit. I think I might like this better than silent hill, and I loves me some silent hill.

The first one featured craptasitic dubbing. Everyone knows its silly seeing japanese characters with english accents when it should be american like always.

Can't say I heard of the original but this game looks really eerie and appeals to me.

The only game that has ever made me jump or creeped out was Project Zero (Fatal Frame). Especially the first one... bloody hell it was good and creepy at the same time.

This looks like yet another PS3 title I will get once I get my PS3

Siren is the best survival horror game ever made.

I am not being sarcastic.

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan, like, obsessive huge, and a relatively large Fatal Frame fan. Siren beats them both to a bloody, pathetic pulp.

I honestly find it sad, though not at all surprising, that so few people have heard of it. It was universally panned by reviewers who don't know the first thing about horror and couldn't get over the voices. For fuck's sake, there has NEVER been a video game with great voice acting. The couldn't get past that, and missed the total insanity throughout the entire game. It's equal parts Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill, yet still manages to be 100% original in content. And Fucked. Up.

Hopefully this will bring it back into the mainstream. Hopefully it will get people to play the original!

Anyway...this looks like they've just added in some new American characters...Maybe there's some new story elements then too?

And a note to the publishers and distributors:

BRING SIREN 2 TO AMERICA YOU BASTARDS!!!!!

Ok dude, the gameplay was a little...ridiculous. I got pretty frustrated and put it down after like an hour. A survival horror without good controls is pretty much your character(s) dying over. and over. and over again.

Siren is not a great survival horror game. If it was a good game to begin with then this game would be called Siren 3, and not be a remake of the first. It's pretty obvious the creators felt that the previous game was inferior, and that this is their chance to really make a "great" game.
