Siren: New Translation gets a new name, ventures outside of Japan photo

The new PS3 Siren game looks pants-crapping good, and this is one of the rare instances where I'll refer to loss of bowel control as a compliment. For those of you hopefuls waiting to hear that this game will come to the US, your prayers have been recognized, if not yet answered -- the game was confirmed for European release at Sony's recent PlayStation day, and UK gamers can now download the trailer from their version of the PlayStation Store.

It also seems that Siren: New Translation is receiving a new title when in hits UK shores: Siren: Blood Curse. There's no confirmation on a US release date yet, so we can't say if this new title will carry over to the US if New Translation is released here, but the announcement of the UK release bodes well for survival horror-starved American gamers. For now, all we can do is rewatch the trailer and try to keep the drool off our own shirts.

For anyone with a PS3, the demo is out on the Japanese server. From what I've played the use f lighting to hide yourself from the zombies and sneak around felt like an inventive idea for the survival-horror genre. I'm still not sure about it though because once I found a gun I didn't have to worry about sneaking around the zombies anymore. Hopefully they keep ammunition low and focus more on the melee weapons so the normal zombies would still be a threat.

This does look great. I heard it's going to be a series with a new episode coming every PSN update. Great concept. Do want

Trailer looks great (trailers tend to). Hopefully it has some balls. I would be excited but Silent Hill destroyed itself so badly it is hard to look forward to something similar. Maybe Alan Wake might save the day. Need some next gen horror, condemned 1 was too long ago (the demo for 2 was SHITE, spawning oil beasties indeed).

@qwerty

I'd say episodes will definitely be once a week. The game will have already been finished before the first episode hits so it shouldn't be a problem.

Besides, even at one episode a week it'll be 3 months before the whole thing is released which is kind of pushing it. Any longer than that and people are going to lose interest.

I need a survivor horror game on the PS3 ASAP! The first Siren was horrible so hopefully they pull up their socks on this one.

Well, if it never comes here, I can at least import it once the menus and stuff are actually in English.

Again I want a system for only one game. The world pisses me off sometimes...

PLAY THE FIRST PS2 GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then tell them to port the second one to the US. It went to the EU, but not the US? Come on!

THEN get this new take on the first game. I know I want the hell out of it, but I don't have and will never be able to afford a PS3, so I will die EVERY TIME another chapter is released.

Seriously, the original Siren is one of my favorite games ever. Certainly the best survival horror game ever made.
