I may have to buy that. I haven't thought to reinstall Impluse since Stardock spun it off to GameStop.
I remember playing the tutorial for it, I got it for 99p from my local gamestation new. It made me direct a few ships. Then it told me to zoom out. Then zoom out. Then zoom out again. And again.
I couldn't see my ships at all, not even the tiniest recognition of them. Suddenly all my efforts felt pointless. It was like the total perspective vortex in video game form. How could I possibly conquer this universe? So I turned the game off and wept for 3 straight hours.

@dunnace I know how you feel. It is a very overwhelming game, but I've gone back to it a few times and every time I learn more about it, the more fun I have with it.
Ahh, now I can finally uninstall Impulse (or as it's known today, GameStop's GameStop platform powered by GameStop™©§).
When it comes, I highly recommend Galactic Civilizations II. It's the best successor to Master of Orion.
i'm more of a Total War and Civilization guy, but i'll definitely pick Galactic Civilizations II when i'll have the time to play it. first GalCiv was great.
@dunnace: It goes both ways, though! Put in the effort, and once you do conquer the universe, it's one of the most satisfying feelings EVER.
One step closer (lol linkin park) to no longer needing to use Impulse. This is why EA is keeping games exclusive to Origin. No one would use Origin otherwise.

Stardock's stance on the old Impulse keys working on Steam has simply been "no". There's a post on the SoaSE forums detailing this but they say they can't give Steam the impulse keys for one reason or another.
In any event. I'm pleased to see that Stardock is jumping ship since GameStop has taken over - the direction i've seen so far with Impulse is.... frigtening. They've completely ruined the UI and website.

Ha, that was literally the only game I had on another download service besides steam. Shame it can't be transferred, it would be handy. Also that gamestop branding all over the client is really obnoxious it really irritates me when I launch it.

I think both can happily co-exist. There are still some stark differences between the two. It's amazing how incredibly well MoO2 still holds up to this day. It's one of my all-time favorite games.

Yeah, can someone confirm please whether or not my impulse serial will now work on Steam? If not, that is going to fucking suck. How can I play my game then?
