In all honesty, I have paid zero attention to Raven Software's first-person shooter with a twist, Singularity, before today. But that all changed when Activision sent over two new trailers for the sci-fi game that uses time as a weapon, earlier this afternoon.
No, you don't go around brutally throwing clocks at people, as fun as that sounds. Instead, you use this little gadget on your hand called the Time Manipulation Device to age objects and yes, even bad guys.
It's a completely shallow reason for suddenly becoming interested in Singularity, I know, but gimmicks are known to grab my attention from time to time. Check after the break for two trailers, the first of which shows off the "Manufacturing" environment, while the second puts the "Rail Trench" area on display.
One glove is capable of not only manipulating time on one object or enemy but it can move objects as if you had telekinesis? As if it wasn't farfetched enough, but I love it.
There has been one thing about this game that I'm upset about, and that is reversing time on an enemy does not turn them into a baby as I would have expected. No, it instead turns them into goo or some type of ooze. So is it like prebirth I'm seeing? I don't know. But I can understand the whole not baby thing since, well, today's media find babies and guns unethical, y' know?
@Jack Maverick: "and that is reversing time on an enemy does not turn them into a baby as I would have expected."
That would be hilarious.
It would be a little bit wrong for you to turn your enemies into babies, then leave them where they are to die, though. I don't think the tone of this game is ideal for that. You're technically a baby killer.
I dunno, I should be really interested in this game, but I'm just not. It's got gunplay, puzzles, and more... but for some reason I can't get interested in it.
You should check out the other videos on Gametrailers. The conspiracy document videos are, in my opinion, utterly excellent. High budget stuff, and lots of fun.
