Sims 2 IKEA expansion redecorates PC charts photo
     The Sims

Decorating a Sims house is so totally better than creating monsters in Spore. Just ask PC gaming consumers. According to gamesindustry.biz the NPDs for the week ending on July 5 show that the mighty Spore Creature Creator has been toppled from first by the Sims 2 IKEA expansion. Apparently players don’t have to go through the rigors of assembling the furniture like I have to. The sales list is as follows:

  1. The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff Expansion Pack
  2. Diablo Battle Chest
  3. Spore Creature Creator
  4. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe
  5. World of Warcraft: Battle Chest
  6. World of Warcraft
  7. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
  8. World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack
  9. The Sims 2 Free Time Expansion Pack
  10. Warcraft III Battle Chest
Look at all that EA and Activision/Blizzard/Vivendi action going on. Will World of Warcraft ever slide all the way down the list? Every week, I look at these numbers and wonder if the billion-year-old game could ever possibly be replaced. I’d almost bet that the only way people quit buying World of Warcraft is if they’re too busy buying Diablo III or Starcraft II.

Count me as one of the people who bought the Diablo battle chest. I was surprised to actually be enjoying an MMO. They also slipped in a WoW trial CD. Devious.

This information is wrong; the NPD does not properly research big box stores and digital distribution. These are PC sales from stores like Gamestop and more than half of them don't even stock PC games anymore.

Also US only.
