While I'm not quite as big a fan of Square Enix has I used to be, I have to respect the way it can still tug at the heartstrings and milk nostalgia for all it's worth. This new trailer for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a masterpiece of rose-tinted self congratulation ... and I can dig it!
A range of classic tunes are showcased in this new video, along with the gameplay. Don't worry folks, "One Winged Angel" is in there, thank Christ! More importantly, "Clash on the Big Bridge" makes an appearance, which is thoroughly badical.
I'm really looking forward to this game. Absolutely sold.
Oh boy, FFXI's Ronfaure music. So many memories of killing low level bunnies and sheep.
Need this game.
@Thane Vickers
I don't know. If anything, the music has been one of the consistently high points in the modern FF games. FFXIV, FF Type-0, and FFXIII-2 soundtracks are ALL outstanding.
I'll be honest: I'm probably one of the biggest cynics when it comes to Final Fantasy, but I'm digging this. The music is one of the few things I still like about Final Fantasy, so to make a game based around that is awesome. I'm also digging the art style and the fact that Vivi and Rydia are both in it makes me a very happy camper.
I watched this and the new KH DDD trailer and ended up more pumped for this. Its a good spread of music and I really appreciate knowing Final Fantasy XI will get some tunes in there.
I also really like that they kept some of the music in its original form. New arrangements can be great, but some things don't need to be retouched.
Looks pretty badass. Like Elite Beat Agents with a twist + Final Fantasy.
And you can't go wrong with Uematsu's compositions, which comprise most of the music in this.
I really did enjoy the FF music but I just got one nick pick - all the sfxs that are used to confirm you've hit a note correctly. Do you think that will be distracting from the music itself :S
I wasn't too big on Dissidia but this is the type of collaboration I can really get behind...love that they include FFXI with Prishe and Shantotto as they were my favorites. :D
If I had one criticism, it is that it looks to vanilla for what others in the genre has done, that being said a game about final fantasy music can only be a good thing.
