Silver DualShock3 now available, Red and Blue coming this fall photo

As expected, the “Satin Silver” DualShock 3s that retailer GameStop/EB Games had been listing for awhile are now available. These bad boys will run you $54.99, and will be exclusive to GameStop/EB Games from now through September.

If silver’s not your thing, you might want to consider holding out, though. No one seemed to notice during E3, but Sony quietly announced that retailers would start selling “Deep Red” and “Metallic Blue” DualShock 3 controllers starting this October. The availability of these controllers wasn’t tied to any specific time frame, so expect them to be available on a semi-permanent basis based. They’ll also run you $54.99.

If you’re picking up a new controller, do you prefer Silver, Red, or Blue? Let us know. This is really important, guys.

Bring blue DS3 to the UK and you've got yourself a sale.

I hate how they come out with new colored controllers after I already have 3 black ones. What do I need 6 controllers for?

I like different colors for my controllers, but silver just peels off. I already have the black and white one, If enough 4 player games come I'll get me the blue and red

It's absurd that 10+ year technology costs this much.

Had one of these for 2/3rds of a year.

Japan import of course. It's ok.
Helps me tell which is my DS3 without having to study too hard when I pick up my controllers.

How about a new color for the PS3 for the US market?

Yeah I'd like to get my hands on a white PS3 if I were to pick up a second unit. I might go for a second controller in red.

"Metallica" Blue? I probably would have gone for it had I never known the name. Now I'll always be reminded of that shitty band so no thanks. I'll stick to sleek black.

Instead of acting like this is awesome new news all these damn colors should of been out by now in The States, like they are in Japan which got almost every color of a rainbow.

Yeahh.. I have 3 black DS3s right now and I need to get one more. I don't really like the silver one. I might get the white one since I don't feel like waiting til Oct to pick up a different color.

Right now, I only have one black DualShock 3 and one original Sixaxis, so considering that I eventually want to phase out that Sixaxis completely and the PS3 can connect up to seven controllers, I'll probably pick these up. Though I wonder, what's going on then with those white controllers that you'll occasionally find some random retailers selling? It'd be nice if Sony just came out and sold them.

I do love differently colored controllers, because it's easier to tell controllers apart at a very quick glance.

I like my controllers black. But I might get 4 different colors for the same reason Necros mentioned. And that way my friends can use their 'own' controller when they come over to play games. I hate touching someone else's controller. Or no, I hate them touching mine.

Red would be sweet to have.

@Hangedman

Totally, everyone should wear the same color shirt and drive the same color car!

"Now available"? I have one of these already, picked it up about a month ago from a mom & pop that didn't have the black ones available. Did I miss something? The silver does look pretty bitchin'.

Oh I really want a red one now.

@ cynical: bluetooth came out in 1999? Also these controllers come with a built in Li Ion.

I haven't bought a PS3 yet (I'm still holding out for a cheap 60 gig with the emotion engine) but when I do I'll probably pick up one of each color.

You just reminded me that I still don't own a Dual Shock. And at that price, it'll still be awhile before I do.

not a fan of the silver.it looks cheap.i have the black dual shock, yes its still the same plastic but the silver just looks like a cheap plastic brittle controller that could crack at any moment.
