The saga of Too Human, Silicon Knights' Norse-mythology-meets-sci-fi RPG which spent ten years in development hell only to receive a cool reception upon release, may not be over. In a recent interview with IndustryGamers, CEO Denis Dyack has stated that Silicon Knights, "intend to finish the trilogy but no comment beyond that."
Which isn't entirely true, because he also mentions the "very public litigation" surrounding the title. That would likely be referring to the suit Silicon Knights brought against Epic Games in 2007, claiming that Epic failed to provide support for the Unreal Engine which caused delays in the development of Too Human. That trial is currently awaiting a federal jury.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I remember being so excited for this, due to my love for Norse mythology, then playing the demo, and feeling reserved, then playing the game, and feeling cheated. The only other game to really match my feeling of disappointment was Fable 1.
As for this news - good. I enjoyed the first game, for all its flaws it had an interesting setting and was a fun, if mindless, hack and slash affair.
cut dying animation down(or throw it away completely/let us skip it),
imrpove controls and animations cause the original felt like thee're was a lot of missing animations,
throw away entire enemy level scaling - cause it was broken and frustraiting,
have better level designers(environments were boring and bland for me),
do this and you have gold.
I get that Too Human is Dyack's baby, but between a choice of more Too Human or Eternal Darkness, it's a no brainer that Eternal Darkness is the way to go. I know Eternal Darkness didn't quite find enough of an audience to be wildly profitable, but seeing if that audience can be found would be a better bet than trying to fix the labyrinth of problems around Too Human and hoping that that game can find an audience.
How many more Too Humans can Silicon Knights survive?
It's Denis Dyack's pet project, so... Unless he's willing to give up on his pet project when he's in a position to make the game he wants to make, I doubt he'll give up on it.
And for everyone thinking about Eternal Darkness, if Too Human Too(?) does well then SK can hire more staff and develop multiple projects at once.
Of course I think I picked the easiest class to play with, the dude that does machine guns and doesn't really use swords. I would just mow everyone down before they got close. I'm sure if I picked the sword specialist, I'd be bemoaning the right stick controls.
But you all knew that anyway :)
and BTW i like Too Human ..and Eternal Darkness...and Denis Dyack =D...and Jim Sterling.

I'm a mega fan and I'll always admit it had it faults and it took a fair while to get used to the controls but once I got user to it I fell in love with the game.
Too Human tried something a little different and had a cracking story. The fact that so many people gave up on it makes me a little sad.
Can't we forget it happened and move on?
Everyone always bitches about the lack of originality in games, well let me tell you, this game was pretty damn original. While steeped in Norse mythology, it bent it so hard to the sci-fi side it was great.
I personally liked it a lot, even if it didn't play the smoothest at all times (and the camera angles some times made it hard to check out my massive hammer and badass armor). I hope they get around to at least making one sequel eventually, even if that means wrapping up the story earlier than anticipated, it will at least offer closure.
Oh, and fuck that valkyrie.
I never finished the first game because it was just too monotonous. Hopefully they will remedy that as well.
They should make it on a Gamecube sized disc for shits and giggles too!
Big fat thumb. I getting flashes of homer in the moo moo lol
If Square isnt gonna make a new Soul Reaver ild rather Silicon Knights make use of the IP
