Submarines scare the living hell out of me. I'm not overly claustrophobic, but the thought of being stuffed into a metal tube underwater, knowing that if anything goes wrong that I'm probably going to drown -- probably in my top five least appealing ways to die -- is just terrifying to me.
That may be part of the reason why I find this new trailer for the just-announced Silent Hunter 5 to be so compelling. Narrated by a German U-boat captain (presumably the one you play in the game), it shows some of the raw nerve necessary to perform that job. Nerve that I don't have.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Silent Hunter 2 is expected to release on PC in 2010.

Really just thought this said Silent Hill 5, Then I was watching the trailer like "...its taking place in a submarine? they lost it. they've lost their MIND."
I hate the Silent Hunter series, if only because my dyslexic brain always reads it as "Silent Hill", and gets my hopes up, if only for a nano-second. booooooooo.
Haha, I just watched a trailer to a stupid submarine game because I was expecting Pyramid Head to pop out at any second. How the HELL did we all read Silent Hill 5?!

@TheFlyingEgg: What are you talking about? Their accents seemed just as authentic as Tom Cruise's in Valkyrie...I could barely understand them. /sarcasm

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Jeez, it's like 90% of the posts I make are typo corrections. I need more interesting things to say
no, Silent Hill Homecoming does not exist to me and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a remake of sorts.
Way to bring in people to post comments about games they've never heard of...lol
