Silent Hill: The Arcade Game photo

In their coverage of AOU2007, Game Watch shows off Konami's newest arcade game, Silent Hill: The Arcade. This is a two player light gun game set in the creepy Silent Hill universe, and is set to give Silent Hill fans repeated, rapid fire pants explosions. Fan favorites like "Pyramid Head" and the freaky puppet nurses are set to make wonderful gun targets as players traverse the foggy, rust colored world.

The arcade cabinet in its deluxe form has a 5.1 surround system hidden underneath its curtains to give players a totally immersive experience, but aside from that it looks to be standard Konami gun fare. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but none of that matters as Silent Hill fans are probably going to enjoy it anyway.

Let's hope this comes stateside - those nurses need to be put down.

Being a total whore for the House of the Dead series, I have to say this is completely rad. And I'll never get to play one unless I randomly win a trip to Japan. In the unlikely event that it happens, I plan on memorizing the Japanese phrase for "Take me to the crazy-ass Silent Hill light gun machine."

Is grainyness from the camera or the "fog"?

I love the Silent Hill series but...NO! Resident Evil Survivor was bad, what makes you think this is a good idea?

Just make a Silent Hill on PS3 or 360 (and a Wii?) and be done with it.

I love these style of arcade games. I once blew $20 in the Jurassic Park shooter, beat it and got the highest ranking. That was an afternoon well spent...

Spooky cabinet. I'll probably check this out next time I'm at a big arcade, assuming it comes here.

Nothing will ever touch the time crisis series.

Wii? Don't make me laugh. Although it does look like it would be able to handle such shitty graphics. WTF? Is it the camera?

Is it true that these screen shots were created by mashing up different colored balls of Play Doh? YES or NO?

This was completely random, I'm a huge SH fan, but the whole ideal of a shooting game kind of defeats the purpose of SH. Sure I'd still play it, just sounds odd. With the graphics, I'm not surprised, I mean there hasn't been a arcade game with amazing graphics in QUITE sometime! I'm pretty sure they stopped caring so much about graphics and more about gameplay along time ago. :P

Oh and I will add, even if the game sucks, the cabinet looks pretty cool! :D

I like that the arcade unit reminds you to "Shoot 'em in the head! Shoot 'em in the head!" (He killed your parents!)

Hmmm...interesting...

I would love to pop a cap in Pyramid Heads....um...head

Dont know about how "immersive" that curtain will be, but it would be interesting to play...I hope that surround sound will be sufficient enough to drown out the sounds of the surrounding arcade!

@Vigor

You've obviously never played The House of the Dead 4, then. That stomps Time Crisis to death. Now, if only the damn guns would work half of the time. They take so much abuse, it would seem...

I'd love to play this game, although the graphics aren't up to HotD4 standards. To be fair, HotD4 certainly isn't perfect in terms of graphics, as the polygon builds are actually quite low. Thankfully, the God-like textures bring the game back up as far as the overall appearance goes, though.

I love Silent Hill...

But this...?

I'm filled with disgust and an odd sense of foreboding.

Anything Silent Hill, ANYTHING, I would publicly humiliate myself for. I am a flat out fangirl. I would likely play this in the arcade until I wore my fingers down to bloody nubs.
