Silent Hill: Shattered Memories box art is awesomely creepy photo

Yeesh. If you haven't already seen it, here's a look at Konami's official box art for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The full version is in the gallery below, along with plenty of new screenshots and character renders, all fresh from gamescom 09. There's something unapologetically grim about that image, which might serve to make it my favorite Silent Hill box art ever.

It pretty well manages to match the creepiness shown in the latest trailer, and If the spooky vibe achieved by everything we've seen so far translates well into the final game, this one looks to be worth checking out. It'll be available for nightmare inducing on Wii, PS2 and PSP later this year.

Myeh. Its ok. I think SH1 and 2 had the best box arts. Obscured images hidden while showing emotions. This one is too eye catching. But its about the game, not the cover.

Call me a purist, but I liked the original Silent Hill font better, but the image is definitely creepy and sweet.

Also, maybe I just haven't played the original in a long time, but who's the hooker supposed to be in the twelfth image?

@ Arsenic

Thanks for heads up.

But uh...um...well they sure are going for a different interpretation of Dahlia there aren't they?

As a HUGE fan of the original I'm keeping my optimism guarded. I realize they're trying to do something different, so I'm not going to freak out about the changes, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned.

OMG!frog disscetion is for 10 yrs old students, lol. This is going to be so kid friendly Wiimake lol.

jokes aside, this kinda reminds me of Dead Space Extraction cover. So this time, the theme is snow and ice instead of fog? Will the other world have more white than red and brown?I'm always ready for any survival horror games with decent amount of nice puzzles and cool abominable monsters.

@Topher
I'd rather that the picture of Dale that you snuck into the gallery become the official box art. Creepy and relevant!

@unangbangkay: Me too. I totally plan to print that out, slide it into the game sleeve and use it anyway.

accidentprone, the characters all end up looking different depending on your actions/choices. That's sorta the hook this time, how the game changes in so many ways. In the screens you can see several different versions of the same characters actually.

I really hope the PS2 version looks decent, since I don't have a Wii. I'm getting a little worried that it looks awful since they never show screenshots from that version. I'm getting it whatever happens, but it would be nice to know what I'm letting myself in for.

Creepy...and much better than the disturbing-for-the-wrong-reasons cover of SH: Homecoming.

Totally excellent cover, love the frozen dead eye stare. Also just love the frozen cold aspect of the environment, very cool (ha!). Also, frog-vagina, cuz', well, you know, frog-vagina!

I second what windexwindex said, if Shattered Memories turns out to be the best SH since 3 I would suck Climax's dick

and yes the box art is much better than the terrible Homecoming one (Captain Scowly Face and his angsty little pal!)
