So, not only does Konami screw over Guy Cihi, leave out Silent Hill 4, charge $50 for TWO, count them, TWO games (this isn't a collection, it's a bundle), but they hire shitty voice actors?! What the hell, Konami?!?!
Hahahaha just before this I had posted on Silent Hill's Facebook page how the voice acting will probably be utter shit, keeping in tradition with their long line of Silent Hill related decisions as of late.
I'm not buying these. its pretty simple, actually. I refuse to.
I'm actually hoping someone spends the time to crack them, replace the new voice dialogue with the original audio files, as they're all rippable.

Shockingly amateurish. I get that it probably needs to be filtered and arranged in post-production, but it would take Phil Spector-esque levels of fixing to make it tolerable.

Eddie is the funniest voice actor I've heard in a long time. Mary sounds like she's wondered out of a Daz commercial.

I didn't think it was all that bad. The female cast seem like they're done pretty well, but I am going to miss Guy Cihi as James Sunderland. I don't know but maybe it was his lack of voice acting experience that really managed to bring out how weak and pathetic his character was; regardless it'll be a tough act to follow.
Lack of SH4 still hurts though as its the only one I haven't played.

Y'know what? I'm not hopping on the bandwagon here with the rest of you. Don't get me wrong, I think it was a lousy idea to recast in the first place, and frankly I don't see a point in re-releasing SH2&3 at all with any kind of updating, BUT...
There's no music. No sound distortion effects. These are not the final voices as we'll hear them in the game. There will be editing done to improve the mood and how the voices come across. All you're hearing is straight studio recordings. Those never sound good when you watch the scene happening but aren't given context.
So, be against this game if you want to be on principle. I'm fine with that, and to be honest, I think Konami releasing this without finalizing the audio is a mistake, but going on about "werst actin evar" is just... childish.

For fuck sake, what the hell is this! I am so tired of this fascination Konami/Yamaoka seems to have with this shitty voice actress Mary Elizabeth whateverherlastname is. Yamaoka keeps insisting on putting her on every good song that would be amazing were it not for her singing. He even dragged her in Shadows of the Damned. She gives music this bottom of the barrel/low production/third rate/garage band vibe to it all. Silent Hill 2 has the best soundtrack in my opinion, after that it's just Mary Elizabth this and that. Keep her out of Silent Hill for the love of God. Doesn't anyone feel the same way?

This plus the fact that it's a *collection* that only has 2 games is why I won't be purchasing this. I'll just stick with my ps2 copies.

Mfw Maria is actually Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the woman who sang all the music for the older games. Whiners just shot themselves in the foot. She is the best out of the bunch though.
The voice acting doesn't bother me as much as the sound design. Everyone has an "on mic" sound to their voice, no reverb, no space. It's like they're talking directly into your ear, but they are 5 feet from the camera.

OH MY GOD! I haven't even played the Silent Hill games and I know this is bad voice acting. I was planning to buy this collection to get into the series, but this voice acting has changed my mind on my purchase.

I kept thinking before this "it can only be an improvement" and then I saw this....... I think they are trolling. Seriously you see the vita game, it's the ghostbusters downloadible game that everyone hates!!!!! And this is horrible. Downpour is fucking alan wake, they are making fun of the fans. It's the only explanation I can think of.
Is everyone watching a different video to me? Mary, Maria and James sound fine- James in particular is far better than the over-acting of the original. Eddie's is the only one that seems off, but no more so than the original voice.

I really liked the piano in the background. So I was a little distracted. Anyways I don't mind campy dialog and voice acting in horror games. But to each there own I guess.
