That first screenshot is actually kind of awesome. The graphics don't much matter to me, as Silent Hill entries have always looked kind of ugly. The story and the atmosphere are what makes this series. Honestly, this is so different from previous titles that I just can't find an opinion. I think I'll try to stay open-minded about this. I really hope there is a demo.
Hopefully people stop crying about this game.

Hideo Kojima said it on a recent interview. There are people who wants traditional gameplay, and maybe it's hard for them to get into new style for a series. Thankfully there are people who are more open and willing to try new things.

I don't think it will be a good Silent Hill game, but since it's developed by Wayforward it will probably be pretty fun.
I'm more concerned about a survival horror game that has you managing multiple characters than the graphics or perspective.
On the point of graphics, it might be skewed down so it can go to 3DS or iOS as well. Multi-platform games for handhelds are something I have a hard time getting jazzed about, particularly given the number of half-baked iOS ports out there.

That's exactly my take on the series ever since Homecoming. Like Konami said, "Fuck it. Since we lost nearly all of the original team we may as choke this like mufa."
I'd see them stretch their own talents with this and like how they handled Shattered Memories than trying to imitate the original games.

I'll give it a chance; could be good fun and a nice change of pace. And if it's awful then I won't have to play it. Hope it's got some nice fan service(history wise, not panty shots of nurses)

While I'm not the sort of rabid Silent Hill fanboy who throws a shitfit every time they see so much as a new grass texture, I have to say I really don't like the look of this.
Changing the formula is one thing, changing the genre is another thing entirely. Baaaaaaaaaaad move.

The big question is: Will the new characters have their original voices? If not, Konami, you're fired.
If SH:BoM where a more traditional Silent Hill title, it certainly would add appeal to the PS Vita's third party line-up in terms of appealing to those expecting console-like game expectations.
Even though Sony have actually never literally marketed the PS Vita as a PS3-in-your-pocket in their trailer for PS Vita or during preview events (with most execs consistently differing to their engineers on why a PS Vita can not run at PS3 specs), that kind of gets skewed because actual US and European commercial marketing has not started and people think the PS Vita's quad core can suddenly run at PS3 cell or PC specs and do the impossible.
If the game is good, I am going to buy it.

I don't mind something new, I just thinks that this completely contradicts the entire foundation this series was built upon and alienates most of the long time fans (that have probably given up already :()

I agree with you that the series is royally screwed. We should send a message and not buy another SH game until such time as they stop pissing in our open mouths.
I have in faith in wayforward to bring it with atmosphere and gameplay. We shall see about it being silent hill though. They managed good tension in aliens infestation though.
Is it possible for them to just name this something else instead of trying cash in on the silent hill brand?
