Silent Hill 5 becomes Silent Hill: Homecoming, due for September photo

Konami has announced that Silent Hill 5 has been renamed Silent Hill: Homecoming and now has a European release timeframe of September.

The game, which is being developed by The Collective instead of Konami's traditional Japanese team, is being met with tentative excitement from fans, myself among them. While it looks solid and the team seems to be made up of big Silent Hill fans, the homages to the Silent Hill movie and the rehashed "looking for missing person" storyline is worrying. In this game, it is Alex Shepherd looking for his missing brother.

No American date for Homecoming has been announced, but it can't be too far off the European date.

ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE SH5!

Ahem... I'm a little more worried but... best of luck to the developers.

I guess it's better than calling it Silent Hill 5.. um I think.

I imagine you must be quite mental to call Silent Hill your home.

I can see the parallels in this. I mean homecoming is a scary time in a high schooler's life. The horror of someone showing up to the dance in the same outfit is going to be hard for this game to top.

My god I hope it's good. I love Silent Hill too much.

I really hope they can pull this off. Changing the title from 5 to some other subtitle is a little alarming, but I just hope it's for some kind of relation to the events in the game, not because we'll never see another good Silent Hill game.

if it ain't good enough to be SHV, which I suspect, I'm glad they changed it's name. Maybe TeamSilent will do the *real* SH5... :U

I get the feeling that "looking for your missing brother" is a gross oversimplification in the same way that "looking for your daughter," "looking for your dead wife," and "looking for your father, a cult" is a bad paraphrase of previous games. But they were still awesome!

@Ampersam agreed. I think it would be more fun to get stuck in with your friend and both have to work a way out co-op xD

@atheistium

Co-op would be a nice touch but I think it would be hard to implement given the nture of Silent Hill. Sitting next to a friend wouldn't be as scary as solo.

I loves SH so this will be in my collection day 1!

It could turn out to be a great game, the whole brother thing is kinda cool. Is the main character going to be a child because that would be sweet.

Also, zombie-monster or not, the creature in the background of that pic has rocking beuuubs

...I don't like the sound of it. One bit.

I mean, HOMECOMING? They could've done better than that. :/

Konami Japan probably saw it and freaked so they're like "ok, you guys get a subtitle. no 5 for you. leave that to us now."

I still haven't finished Origins yet. Or RE4 Wii. I did finish Luigi's Mansion though. (I recently bought all three of those from EB Games at the same time, fyi.)
