Sideshow Collectibles' Lara Croft open for pre-order photo

[As originally posted on Tomopop]

Well, by now, you've probably already heard and seen all about the new Tomb Raider game coming out, so perhaps we can interest you in a statue to match? Sideshow Collectibles has a new Lara Croft statue open for pre-order, based on the artwork of renowned illustrator Adam Hughes. Standing 19" tall and weighing in at a mighty 13 pounds, it's a different take on Lara than perhaps we're used to, but the short shorts, the Uzi, the climbing on things ... it's all there.

Lara will be coming fourth quarter 2011 in two versions: a regular US$349.99 version and an exclusive version at the same price. The exclusive version comes with an exclusive art print. Both will require a deposit of US$35 within 48 hours of pre-ordering and have the FlexPay plan as an option. I'm probably not lining up to get her, but what about you guys?

i the header or post hadn't mentioned this design was Lara Croft's, I would've never made the connection between the two. Dang even her frown looks too masculine O_o

What? Masculine? That's obviously Lara Croft lol. No doubt in my mind who we're looking at.

I'd definitely take trip to the art museum to see that piece if it were on exhibit (maybe on a Thursday or Sunday so I can get in for free! Nah, this would be worth paying full admission to see).

If it doesn't come with pre-order exclusive codes for in-game content for the upcoming Tomb Raider game...as well as the new Tomb raider game...and a new game system to play it on, then there is no chance that I would spend so much money on something video game related that has no game play value of its own (unless it were the original). Even the Mortal Kombat movie had a Klassic Kostume Kode.

Everyone can just play Tomb Raider Underworld or Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light if anyone urgently needs their Lara Croft fix until the new game drops.

Adam Hughes is a GOD, he draws the best Catwoman. This figurine is rather nice.

I know right, she needs more mud thrown on her. She looks nothing like the Lara Croft from the trailer earlier today.

I mean look at her wearing nicely pressed and clean clothing. Nothing like the Lara Croft I've seen.

DO WANT so badly. But with import duties, VAT and customs clearance, that's something like £300 (a bit under $500). And her face is just a tiny bit off, looks like they tried to combine the old Lara with the new Lara. If it was made avaialble through a UK distributor so there was no nasty +30% import cost then I'd be buying it.

@CommanderPoopypants: I'm probably comparing the first versions of Lara (I'm feeling old now...) with this one because I seriously can't feel this design is "Lara Croft". Yeah she's got a ponytail, a green shirt and carries a uzi; doesn't mean that's enough to say "it's Lara", at least not for me. Then again I haven't followed this franchise in its newest installments so whatever works for the current crowd.

@manasteel88: You don't like your girls being dirty, I take it?
