Sick of teaser countdowns? Resonance of Fate counts UP! photo

That's right, folks! In a cynical and silly attempt to be different from all the other lame teaser countdowns that everybody hates, Sega has decided that tri-Ace's new RPG, Resonance of Fate, will have a clock that counts UP. I ... this is just ... sigh.

The clock is counting upward toward Resonance of Fate's release date. If you're unaware of the game, it's yet another of tri-Ace's pompously named roleplayers, published by Sega instead of the usual Square Enix. The studio's last big console outing was Infinite Undiscovery and, well, that one was pretty terrible. Hopefully Resonance will be much better.

We'll have to wait until the clock's finished counting upwards to see.

... For crying out loud.

Star Ocean 4 was probably their last console outing, though it did suffer basically the same flaws that IU did so.. really that changes very little.

I beat Star Ocean 4 a couple weeks ago. It wasn't a great game, and only barely a good game, but it was certainly playable. Tri Ace tends to overcomplicate the gameplay and underdevelop the characters and story. Radiata Stories could've been a great game, but the story just felt unfinished.

I can't tell is this is a joke or not. Like if they are trying to be funny or something. But it's presented as serious business so, face palms for everyone!

It's not really a counter, but only a clock thing.

Still it is pretty stupid.

This is the one with guns, right? The gameplay looks pretty good, at least what I could garner from the trailers.

I thought Infinite Undiscovery was generally accepted to be pretty good, never played it though. Guess not.

@T-Rav
360 fans who didn't know any better (read: 360 was their first system) thought it was "good".

I still think that End of Eternity is a more interesting title. Either way, this game looks like a winner from what I've seen so far.

@Magnalon
The Atari 2600 was first system and I think IU is awesome. Not as good as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 8 or Breath of Fire 4, but yes, I think it is good.

Lies Infinite discovery was pretty fun ;) Fact that it didn't have to phase into battle mode made it all the better. Star Ocean 4 on the other hand I couldn't stand playing past the first boss which supposedly used a similar combat engine. Just didn't feel right for me. Resonance of fate on the other hand looks fun for a turn based RPG, it reminds of of the similarly active FF13 battle engine. Just a little more directional movement than FF13

If I recall right (sorry but non-FF JRPGs all mas together in my head) this title was one of the few neely announced games I saw coming out of TGS that looked like it had promise. Didn't play IU but regardless I'm intrigued.

The count Up will continue till the End of Eternity. How come the new JRPG always sound so depressing or have at least one depressing word ?

Infinite UNdiscovery, The LAST Remnant, LOST Odyssey, SO:The LAST Hope, Final Fantasy (oh well that's not new but still somewhat depressing)I think there's still more. I'll cry on about Cry on now.
