BioShock 2 releases next week, so treat yourself to this rather swanky launch trailer. It gives you pretty much everything you need to prepare yourself for the rapturous sequel. It's got Big Daddies, Little Sisters, Splicers, and a buggerload of Plasmids. Perfect.

As I write this, I am patiently waiting for my delivery guy to arrive with what should be a sexy review copy of the game. I'm looking forward to seeing what 2K Marin has done to further the BioShock story, and whether or not this game can live up to the quality and narrative of the original. BioShock's a tough act to follow. I wish BioShock 2 the very best of luck.

I just said I proably won't play this game on another Bioshock 2 article, but my God, I might have to find time after watching that.

Watching this video makes me annoyed that the Big Daddy isn't more lumbering in the actual game itself. I understand why they didn't go that route, but other than the drill, you'd be hard-pressed to realize you were playing as a Big Daddy if someone didn't point it out to you.

The motion animation is greatly improved in this cut-scene. I hope there is some in game footage that confirms the in game motion animations are likewise improved.

Am I the only one who's not really impressed?

Then again, I felt the same about the first Bioshock. I played it reluctantly and had my mind blown.. We'll see if this is the same way

What does this sequel add that an expansion pack wouldn't (aside from a full length campaign)?

I'm pretty sure Bip is kidding. Based on the number of people harping on releases like ODST and L4D2 being expansion packs, despite full-length campaigns introducing several new game mechanics, some graphical upgrades, and new multi-player modes, I think he's pointing out that those same people don't seem to have the same complaints about this game.

Can you tell I was put off by people's incessant whining? I could be off on this one though, maybe he really does think this should have been an expansion...I hope not :/

I'm with you, Gestault. Gamers are fucking whiners this generation. (Can you imagine if these people would have been around when Doom 2 was being worked on?) I had written this entire blurb (pretty much the same stuff you just said), but deleted it all because I wanted to be sure he was serious before I got all up in arms for no reason.

You know, I have to remember that this is a launch trailer to a sequel of a game I loved, but I guess I'm not really loving the gung-ho attitude this trailer seems to have.

Admittedly I was never more interested in Bioshock than I was with its announcement teaser. That sick sense of horror and immoral grief attached to survival was never even matched by the game itself. That teaser was something to be revered. I guess I wish I saw more of that this time around with Bioshock 2, and not just more guns and big guns.

Still, I know I'll be playing this one.

Playing as a Big Daddy in a Bioshock games is like playing as Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum. It's hard to feel like anyone else is a threat to you when you're playing as the scariest thing in the game.

Okay, so...why is there no in-game footage in the launch trailer? Yes, 2K Marin, you can animate a very pretty 3 minute video of the cool things we'd like to do in your game, but I don't care about what I'd like to do. I care about what I can do.

I was on the "this is going to be a train wreck" brigade for the longest time, then I preordered it with the 35$ steam sale (with 4 people). Now I am reconvinced it will be an absolute train wreck because, really, if you don't have the faith enough in your product for an in-engine trailer, then why should I?

I did the 4-pack Steam preorder as well. "Unnecessary sequel" or not, it looks like it'll be killing more splicers inside Rapture with awesome weapons and plasmids. Which is exactly what I want.

Meh. Maybe it's just a testament to how good the ME2 launch trailer was, but I was not impressed by this.

I really, really hope you do not have to escort little sisters around. That was the worst level of Bioshock by about 1400%.

Having said that, it was preordered over a week ago ^.^

Saw Bomberman; couldn't help it. Fortunately we'll be spending our time in the game (I assume) from his perspective. Otherwise, very nice trailer. I like the concept of the suit weighing him down, but obviously that would be maddening in-game. As I watched the video, I kept wanting him to turn faster. Also, nice to see the Plasmid ghosts return (they added a lot to the ambiance of the first game).
