I always wanted a Gamecube, but my brother convinced me to buy a PS2 instead, at least I'm not going to Hell I guess
Well the gamecube definitely made some questionable moves with a lot of the major nintendo franchises.
Metroid moved to first person (which I actually liked, but some don't)
Sunshine is considered commonly to be the worst 3D mario (I'd agree)
Wind Waker was a little controversial (I don't like it. The damn empty open world ocean and miserable fetch quests ruined the game for me)
Donkey Konga moved the series to bongo controls (even though this obviously wasn't meant to be a sequel obviously)

It is rumored that the Wii U is going to let you download Gamecube games via Wiiware.

The gamecube backwards compatibility is the one reason I've kept my wii all these years. That and the 100th revision of mario 64.
I'll probably get a lot of shit for this, but the GameCube is my second-favorite Nintendo home console (right behind the SNES, of course). So many memories of wasting countless hours on single-player and playing the shit out of F-Zero, Star Fox: Assault, Final Fantasy: CC and, of course, SSBM with my friends every weekend. Good times.
My largest game library is on the 'Cube (I own about 60+, I think), and I masturbate to *most* of them when I get the chance.

As a Gamecube(and Donkey Konga) owner, I could not agree more. I have no regrets. I'm ready. We had it coming.

Is this some inside joke, that I just don't get? I never owned a GC, but for the life of me, I still don't get why owning one would make you go to hell. I thought people loved the GC? Well I mean the few people who actually bought one.
Every argument against the Wii being too casuals, always comes down to how Nintendo should go back to the GC days, which is ironic. Considering that it was they're least sold home console in history. So why a Nintendo fan would ever want them to back to being in 3rd place, is beyond me, but that's another story for another day, because I don't get this article. I guess Its just over my head!

I sacrificed a puppy every time I turned on my Gamecube, which was often. Sometimes I worried that there wasn't enough puppies.

I'm just curious, how can anyone like Gamecube more that PS2? Unless of course you REALLY like Nintendo's first party games, however it seems like PS2 ended up getting superior versions of all of Gamecube's best 3rd party games. I remember being happy with Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4, Super Monkey Ball series, Sonic Mega Collection, etc, only to be jealous of my friends who got all of those games with bonus features and for 20 dollars.
I'm just curious, how can anyone like Gamecube more that PS2? Considering Nintendo removed backward compatibility from future Wii models and didn't include it in the Wii-U, I think that was a clear message for Gamecube owners to go to Hell.
I seem to be in the minority here on Destructoid, what with the N64 and Gamecube being some of my favorite consoles. .-. GBA SP being my absolute favorite.
The GameCube, and it's first-party controllers, are the greatest works of three-dimensional art in existence. Also, it had the best games. The best, I tells ya!
