There's some of you out there (I won't mention any names) that swear up and down that Atlus Japan is not working on Persona 5. Impossible, I say. They have to be. I'd bet anything that they announce it at this year's Tokyo Game Show, set to go down next month. My basis for saying that? It's all from my heightened fan-sense -- I can sense production on a game, even over oceans.
Slightly more reliable hints that Persona 5 is in the works have recently been tied to pachinko game reveals. And now, another lead, this time from a Sony mobile phone site. As you can see above, Shoji Meguro is listed as the Persona 5 producer. While that's not full verification of an upcoming title, it tells me that someone is working on it.
What's even more interesting is that Meguro, who we know as the Persona series composer, is listed as "producer." Wouldn't that be interesting to have the composer produce the game? If you played Silent Hill 4: The Room, you might know that Konami did a similar thing with series composer Akira Yamaoka. I'd be all for Atlus doing the same for Persona.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I just hope it's not PS3-exclusive, as some have speculated. If it is, I'm gonna have to do what I did with the PSP for Persona - break down and buy the system just for that game.
Seeing as it is Shoji Meguro though, It's got huge credibility.
As for P5, I don't mind if it goes to Xbox as long as the integrity of the game isn't comprimised.
The market for Xbox users in general is not RPG based, I don't think Atlus would, but if they sold out to get sales on 360, I'd go spare.
But I think it'll be PS3 exclusive anyway. Too late for for PS2.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if they meant Persona PSP, since, you know, he actually is the producer on that one.
Why can't people get excited for SMT4 or Strange Journey instead of clinging to hopes that they'll get a copy/pasta Persona 5 a year after the last one?
I can't think of any way any Shin Megami game (Persona series included) has ever been copy/pasta'd. Anyway, if we're just now hearing scant rumors about P5, I don't think it'll be coming out "a year after the last one".
Fair enough. While I don't necessarily agree, I do see your point.
But i'm not sure about the composer-producer thing, it can be epic or a total fail.
